So lets start with the pictures since :postpics: right?

Photo captions will be aligned under the picture they belong with. Also, these are all taken with my iPhone 3G - so they're not the best quality. Ever hear the saying "the best camera you have is the one you have with you"?

Before leaving work this evening. Under the big old live oak tree behind the shop.

Another work parking lot photo. Saturday a week or two ago.

Taken the first day I owned the car. Dark Montana Blue interior.

At a friend's house this summer. Took the photo with a black & white filter

Another iPhone app photo. This one was supposed to add a flash after the picture was taken. It did okay for what's possible with software (on a phone).

Love the way that the sunlight reflects from the ornament onto the hood in this 'Cadillac Grille' photo.

http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/9439/hoodornament.png
I like this one for the way that the color of the ornament contrasts against the white hood. Also the shadow is kind of cool and there's a peek at the grille.

Phew, so... now that's out of the way do you have any tips for naming her? (the car is a her, right?)

I've never named a car before, so I'm curious as to how you came up with the name for your Cadillac and any ideas you might have for mine (not names, but ideas to help me come up with a name).

Comments and questions about the car and/or pictures are also welcome.

Thank you, come again,

Chris aka rippypartsmaster aka lots of other names, but that's neither here nor there

Chrisgarage?

Name it White Knight

(I hated Live Oaks in Charleston - they rain acorns and leaves 24/7/365)

yah i was thinking white something - i kind of want to keep it one word too, so maybe 'whitey' ... but i don't know...

white knight did pop up in my thoughts but seems too common for me...

we've also got tons of long leaf pines around here... keeping the car clean is a constant chore
my cavalier never picked up as much detritus as this car does, but i guess this one has more area (and is more level too)

so we've got one for 'white knight' ... where's everyone else tonight? reading up in their FSMs about how to do head gasket jobs?

hmm... thinking of going with "WhiteStar" or W* for short maybe

she's white, and has a NorthStar engine....

also, the Titanic was the flagship for the White Star Line of ships from England

so... meh? yeh? anyone?... anyone?.... Beuller?

What about the name of a girl that have inspired you in the past but never have been yours? I like Marina; I think is a beautiful name.

Another option is a girl name in a song you like. E.g. Lucretia, from a song from The Sisters of Mercy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuezNswtRfo

Maybe it´s a better name for a black car  but I think the song fits perfectly to a powerful machine like this.

i don't like naming after real people... i like the car to be it's own

good suggestion though - i had thought to name it "sarah" (and still might - don't ask, i'm not telling)

i do like the female name thing that most people do, but naming after someone like that isn't really my kind of thing

I'd name it Snowball.

Others:
Great White
Polar Express
Binky! [DKoz's polar bear]

Given your location and the gentility of your ride ... I'd name her "Steel Magnolia" and you could call her "Maggie" for short!

I dont often like blue or red interiors, but that montana blue is very classy.

there was a '98 funeral limo in the shop today with the same interior... blue on the outside too though (ugh) - i really liked the wheels though (too bad they're 6-lug) ... don't think they make that design in the 5-lug

thanks for the ideas guys
i'll sleep on it another night... she'll get her name eventually

Another idea: Blanca. It´s a Spanish woman´s name that means white.
This name exists also in French (Blanche), Italian (Bianca) and Portugese (Branca).

What do you think? ;)

good idea - i might actually do something like that ... since I'm 1/4 italian i might just go w/ bianca

I think it would be a wonderful name for your caddy. Even better if it gives you the opportunity to remember part of your family

Bianca reminds me of James Bond for some reason... was that the name of one of the bond girls?

ah-ha! she was (http://www.jamesbondmm.co.uk/bond-allies/tina-hudson)

remember Ocotopússy? i guess i really know my bond cuz she had such a small part (and wasn't really a bond girl if she didn't get 'down' with 007)

edit: hillariously the site's nanny controls won't even allow non-viewable links (even for images) to have the 'swears' in them

I'm thinking Bianca... gonna... let it settle for a few days before I make it official though

Did you make a decision? I have a white '06 DTS that I've just been calling my Big B*tch, lol. My last peice of crap car was the Blue B*tch. I'm kinda digging Maggie, short for Steel Magnolia, but then you've got a great Rod Stewart song to back it up as well! LOL

i'm going to try and get a better pic from the same location in a couple days to see if i can get less wash-out on the front end

I'm glad someone liked "Steel Magnolia" with Maggie for short. I thought it was a great name for a Southern white
Deville!

yeah, i guess i'm probably a bit too young for that one...
