: What do you think of the Ford Falcon GT?

It's powered by the same 5.0 in the new Mustang GT. It's an Australian car but should make it here at some point..

It may be hot but why give it the old Falcon name? If you aren't going with the retro look, let it go.

The Falcon's been Ford's number one car in Australia for decades. It's far removed from the small American Falcon we got in the 1960's.

I like the car enough, but I don't see how Ford can position it within their American product line. The platform would be wonderful to use as the basis for Lincolns, though.

Maybe the platform is good and possibly (Idoubt it) Lincoln lineup material, but to me it looks like a Subaru on steroids, hardly a good choice for a Lincoln! An American "Ricer" maybe, a couple of phart cannons on the back and year's supply of ramen!

Yeah, rice on the barbie...

Hum, the body does not suggest that there is a 5.0 engine inside... The body needs to be much more aggressive than this, and a bit longer. The car looks like to a Lancer or Subaro....

well, definitely not the bodywork, but the chassis underneath it would serve Lincoln much better than the FWD Ford chassis they're currently trying to pass off.

You can get one without the boy racer treatment. Its a decent looking sedan, kind of ho-hum, but IMO its what's under the skin that's freaking awesome:

Here's a Falcon XR, they come with a v8 or a turbocharged I-6. A lot of people make serious hp with the modded I-6. Add to it RWD, tightly tuned suspension, avaiable 6 speed manuals with either engine, and well its just freaking awesome. You can get cheaper pedestrian models that are nice with more fuel efficient non turbocharged I-6 motor.

Doesn't matter - we WON'T be getting it. Aussie Ford has been making excellent cars that I actually enjoy for a long long time.

First post hits the nail on the head IMO.

And the car = E-gads. :ack:

It's hideous. I understand by looking at it that they were trying to evoke images of the '69 Boss Mustang but the Boss Stang was a bit more than a sticker and cladding. It really had some style to it where this abomination has none.

Wife: "Looks like another shitbox!"

Sorry, but it's true.

I don't think it looks bad. Much like the Holden Monaro to the G8/GTO, it doesn't look awfully exciting, but it's not ugly. It would look a lot better with a regular monochromatic paint scheme though.

I'm all about seeing more V8 RWD mid/full size sedans around here though.

I am curious, Sting, when was the last time you drove or otherwise enjoyed an "Aussie Ford?"

Is it a V8 RWD? Who cares what the wife thinks...

Looks something like a riced-out late model Taurus.

Looks cool. It takes some styling cues from the new Focus and makes a real car out of them
