Predator owners, what do you think about the new tune? I put it on the other day and really didn't expect much difference from the previous tunes. Was just hoping for better gas mileage from the 87 octane tune. Not only am I getting better mileage, what a GREAT surprise when I floored it... They finally have tcu control! EXT shifts like my old vette on WOT now.

I think the $300 plus bucks for the predator was well spent now.

Well done Diablo

What kind of gains for mpg and HP are you seeing?

No idea what HP gains are. Pretty pricey to dyno AWD but they claim 10-20 HP and 10-20 torque on the site. I'd have to agree using my butt dyno. MPG, keep in mind I'm a lead foot around town, I'm getting about 11-12 MPG now. I was getting around 10-11 on the last tune. I think this tune is the best so far. Pedal response from dead stop is the best yet. I was actually going to sell my predator before this tune came out. With the pedal response and WOT shifting on ths tune, it actually changed my mind. I'm making a 200 mile highway trip this weekend. I'll let you know MPG I'm seeing on the highway.

Interesting to say the least. More torque in the big beast would be a godsend.

yep, new one is 9R18.

As for voiding the warranty, possibly, but if you put the stock tune back on before taking it in for service, you will be OK

If I buy a used unit, will I have to pay for this most recent tune? If so, how much is it and how do I get it?

No, the tunes are free..

You may have to pay to get the used unit cleared so it can be married to your lade. not sure how much that is.... maybe 100. might want to send an email to the diable guys before you buy a used unit.

Just as a heads up, GM started back in 2007 with i believe their E36 and newer engine controllers to log re-flashes and programer serial numbers. This started with the diesels for obvious reasons. So just cause you've put it back to stock doesn't mean your hiding anything.

Got one today on craigslist for $130!

$130, that's a good deal! even if you have to get it unmarried, it will come out much cheaper than a new one.

I installed the 87 octane tune tonight. I'm currently getting 11.9 mpg, I'll see if we see any increase after a week or so of driving.

I am tempted to install the performance tune.. Anyone running this with the update?

Holy crap Batman! My '07 Escalade gets 18 City and Hwy combined and I get 22 HWY at 60 MPH. Bone stock, premium gas, Amsoil. That's with my foot out of the throttle. My '05 Denali got about the same.

What you say is sad.

I'd take 11.9 all day long driving where I live.. 18 city???? you must be driving Miss Daisy or on the Kansas plains. You would never get that where I live.

You are reading a thread about performance tuning a 6.2l v8 in a two ton suv, and you are "sad" that a couple enthusiasts are getting bad gas mileage?

No kidding. I might be old and wise, but I'm NOT blind yet.
Why yes I am saddened. Any performance modding I have done in the past has yielded increased MPG and Performance on any ride I've modded.

Might be true to a point, but if you add performance to any vehicle and use a heavy foot, you'll lose gas mileage no matter what.

I'm still running an older firmware on my Diablo, with custom settings to kill some of the pinging. I found I got better milage on the hiway with the performance tune than the 87 octane 21MPG/18MPG on the hiway. I am getting between 12 and 14 around town, with the performance tune. Have been meaning to do the update, but haven't had the time. Guess I'll loook into it now. Thanks for the update

I noticed a new tune came out last month. It looks like it just added more vehicles to the lineup, but has anyone installed it? Any improvements?

For anyone interested here is one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260741605951#ht_754wt_1167

The Predator, in my opinion, isn't worth the money. I didn't notice much, if any, performance gains.

You didn't do it right then! Cause I noticed a big difference on my truck.

My Ext runs like a raped ape with my Predator! I get 19mpg on the highway if I'm nice to it. Shifts like a vette. No complaints here!

2007xtsdub- How can you not do it right? It's easy to use.

Is the predator the only mod you have? Have you ever used any other programmer? Did you time and log your 0-60 and 1/4 mile times? Did you log your transmission temps? Did you use it to tow? Did you guys notice improvement right away or after you datalogged? I've had it for six months and am still experimenting with it. I just haven't noticed much of an improvement.

Sure you can do it wrong. No the Predator is not my only mod. I run a Volant CAI. Nope not on this truck but have used many on other cars/trucks. Yes I tow my Campion Chase 550i boat all the time. Made a great improvement with the tune. What crom version you using?
