: Sun in auto-dimming mirrors

I was wondering, I love the automatic dimming mirrors, but sometimes I'll be driving before sunset (people tell me the sun rises too but I don't really believe it), and the sun is right in the mirror, but it doesn't seem to dim, I guess probably because it's overall bright out.

In a normal car I can just flip the mirror thing and get a little relief, but is there some way to control that on our cars? The section about the mirrors in my manual is just wrong, as if it were for a totally different car.

Thanks in advance :)

Can't you just physically move the mirror?

I think they ONLY go into dimming mode, when the lights are ON !

Absolutely correct, Subs, if you don't have your headlights on the "dimming mirror" thing doesn't get activated.

The system compares the light coming through the windshield with the light coming from behind and darkens the mirrors to match. It only works when the lights are on.
