: Ultimate Horror Weekend (Warning: Thread contains photos and Zombies)

10-12-10, 09:25 PM
Let's get October rolling with some photography.

Ultimate Horror Weekend 2010 (Formerly known as Screamfest)
October 8, 9, 10 at the Orlando Wyndham on International Drive, Orlando Florida.

My hearse was cordially invited, so I naturally attended. Photo time! Now the camera I normally steal was having issues, so I did not get a remarkable large amount of photos and I finally got the rest off of my phone. There are a bunch of celebrities there (Elvira, John Carpenter, Robert Englund, Elvira, Danny Trejo, Elvira, Jake Busey, Gary Busey, Elvira, Ace Frehley, numerous authors and directors, film stars and of course, Elvira) There are also a bunch of other activities, panels, vendors debates and more partying than anyone can shake a stick at.

Anyhow, after washing Branwen up a bit (And adding a few temporary things for our grande entrance) I headed out.

I knew it! None of you wanted to believe me, but I ****ing knew it.

Branwen, about to plow through a crowd of around 100 Zombies to reach the Safehouse in Uno's.

SUCCESS! Train horns and wig-wags ARE useful.

That's a lot of Zombies...No wonder people are protesting.

A lone, brazen survivor, before risking her life to save humanity.

This I-Drive place has bars, so for all you who complained I didn't drink enough during the West Palm Trip, worry not!

Zombies? In my bar? It's more likely than you think.

Holy Crap! What's scarier than Zombies? Knowing that Josiah isn't the only person who has ever heard of this.

Egad! The Virus has spread!

This shirt looks...oddly familiar...

Thankfully, there was backup...

...Or was it a Zombie trap?

Deathillac LIVES!

10-12-10, 09:28 PM
Too many Zombies, I couldn't back up enough to get a full shot.

Who needs Engine Enamel when you have rattlecans?

Branwen calls in reinforcements!

Who You Gonna Call?

Lady Victoria, ready to assist in the battle!

Pure Evil.

Apparently, no one else there knew what an "Imperial" was...

More Ghostbusters = More Horsepowers

But there is more Evil lurking this land...I knew it! Bumper Filler Gremlins!

Good thing Don and Christine showed up. Tragically, two out of three of these cars will kill the survivors that the Zombies leave behind. Too bad for YOU anyway.

Sting says that this Hearse "Is Win"

And at least Lenore is in good company.

I suppose that makes it true.

10-12-10, 09:28 PM
And for only $5, Paradox...

...You too can ride in this burial simulator.

That's all I have for photos, but there was much more. There was even a panel discussing how to survive the Zombie Apocalypse, featuring the leaders in the field and even a REAL zombie, pacified through the technology being put out by "Wuz Dead". Among them, authors of best-selling zombie literature, those from the film industry, Don Myers from www.888WuzDead.com and of course...myself.

I hope that's on video...

Anyhow, for more information, please visit www.SpookyEmpire.com and check youtube for...whatever videos managed to get uploaded!

Ok, OK ..... so where's Elvira? I haven't scene her buxomness in years! Probably about 50 years if truth be told!

10-12-10, 11:15 PM
No photo of Elvira, I had better things to do than pretend to care about celebrities or watch the screening of "The Human Centipede" or the shadowcast of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Interestingly, after my Zombie Expertise on the Survival Panel, I DID get to be the last person in line on the second evening to purchase her photo and have her sign it, because Lady Victoria's father apparently wanted it. I also ran into her (almost literally) briefly on the first evening while she was getting ready to leave into her security-vehicle and I only noticed her when she stopped to look over and say she liked my car. Coming from her, I take that as a compliment.

10-12-10, 11:26 PM
You have one hell of a car. Very nice, looks better than you describe it sometimes but owners pick their cars apart. That spraycan engine compartment looks better than a bunch of rusty parts under the hood.

finally some pics of "lady victoria" :)

A bunch of folks on the Jeep site have these...

New ones are up to date, not expired.

10-13-10, 12:58 AM
Yeah, I love his hearse. It needs some work, but it's still a damn good looking car and it turns heads.

I want one. Seriously. Maybe a Roadmaster hearse is in my future. :D

10-13-10, 11:35 AM
i see a lot of obesity in those pics

10-13-10, 12:06 PM

Indeed. Lupin and I already discussed that those people must have been there to feed the Zombies.

Night Wolf
Lady Victoria already appeared in a photo in the RWD section with a random Brougham I found at a bar by the funeral home in Historic Clermont.
(Most normal sentence I will ever say)

My Hearse is a piece of crap, it's just a head-turning piece of crap. I was fortunate enough to get those action shots of it by uh...stealing them from galleries belonging to random people in the crowd, because there is nothing wrong with stealing. I like how the one photo actually has a sense of motion to it. As for Roadmaster Hearses, they are by no means uncommon and can typically be found in Black, Grey, Silver, White and Burgundy, though other colours like assortments of beige/tan or in green. Actually, a lot of Hearses were painted green during the nineties. I once saw a funeral home where all the hearses, limousines, flower cars and standard sedans were an odd metallic olive green. I didn't actually know the owner of the Roadmaster, but as you can see, it is an S&S, which is no surprise, as they made quote a many Roadmasters. The other Buick was in such shape that people kept presuming it was older than my car, which isn't exactly true. They are distant cousins however, both being General Motors funeral coaches by Superior. The other Brougham was an '87 that I was able to tell the owner was converted to match the 90's models, Ghostbusters style. He was a cool enough kid, reminded me of you quite a bit actually. He was also unfamiliar with the different coachmakers, but given the random things I specialize in, I was able to diagnose his car as a Miller Meteor. 8 window Hearse. Most responses I got about his car were from people who apparently presumed it was the same car from the film (Because the '59 and the '87 are apparently very similar?) or from people who were shocked that someone made an Ecto out of a Hearse...apparently not realizing that the one in the film was ALSO a Hearse. and Deathillac of course, is a Superior, because Superior is more than just a brand name...it's a fact.

Yes, it is definitely better than a rusty engine compartment. Last time I saw Deathillac, it was entirely black. A lot of people in the classic car industry really hate this car, because it is full of holes, seemingly random accessories and has an interior that always seems a mess (Front end is fuzzy animal printed fabric, the rear compartment always seems to be as cluttered as in these photos and is complete with a number of videogame systems and a spittoon. I say, to each their own. I'd rather see any car driving down the road than know that there was another older Cadillac waiting in line for the crusher. While down there, I managed to spot two Broughams on the highway, both of them were in such poor condition. They were from the 90-92 era and both were missing basically every piece that you can legally drive around without.

10-14-10, 02:30 PM
wow I wish I coulda gone :O

Did you steal me a casket yet? :P

10-14-10, 11:51 PM
Every time I see Branwen, I appreciate her the more. BTW, what has the Christine tribute car got to do with an Imperial (other than that both are ChryCo products)?

10-15-10, 12:08 AM
Every time I see Branwen, I appreciate her the more. BTW, what has the Christine tribute car got to do with an Imperial (other than that both are ChryCo products)?

The owner and I got into a discussion about Imperials and engines while he was showing me the 413 and the other onlookers were like "What's an Imperial? I'm dumb, I wasn't alive in that time period, you guys came here just to see other cars, I came to see all these Goth chicks walking around in lingerie and meet celebrities"

So that's basically the story behind that. Truth be told, that IS why I went there, I just got swindled into participation in the opening ceremonies. I really couldn't care less about trying to get my photo taken with some celebrity author/actor/whatever, but it was worth it to see the other Hearses. Last year there were nine Hearses, which is kind of sad that we lost so many. The EctoBrougham wasn't there last year either, nor was the other Ghostbusters car, but an HHR Ecto did make it.

Yeah Paradox, you should have been there. Your Hearse would have easily been the most awesome and as for stealing you a coffin, the one from last year was nowhere to be seen and the one I showed you in the photos...well, I could have taken that, but since you weren't there, how would I have removed it from the premises? My Hearse was already toting my casket around. I need to see if I can find more photos. Actually, Lady Victoria has some on a disposable camera, but because she never gets them developed, it may be a while. She tends to keep them for years. Actually, she wasn't sure, but she said the camera she used this year is probably the same one she used LAST year, so there must be more photos, albeit I do not recall of what.

10-15-10, 12:12 AM
Also, the more familiar with cars (depending on your monitor settings) may be able to pick up on the subtlety in the differences in colour of that Plymouth and the one from the actual film. I suspect that the car was repainted with a more GM-esque red)

10-15-10, 12:57 AM
you know they created this thing called digital cameras now :P

10-15-10, 12:05 PM
you know they created this thing called digital cameras now :P

Yeah, a few of these photos CAME from one of those digital camera things, before it's underlying inferiority kicked in and it kept randomly deciding that it was dead, no matter how many sets of new batteries were put into it. This one kid was getting photos of my car with some incredibly fancy camera that probably cost what I make in a month...should have, uh...borrowed...it.

10-15-10, 12:09 PM
I have one of those cameras!

10-16-10, 02:48 AM
Maybe you two can be friends. Do you wear strange victorian-looking clothes a tophat, odd boots and a leather facemask all while posing for photos in somebody's toe-pincher?

I have no real use for that fancy camera, except that the flash/shutter speed was utterly hypnotic and could be used for more malicious intentions.

I should go try to rob more photos off of people's Facebooks, simply because SOMEONE must have a digital photo of my guest appearance on the panel.

10-16-10, 02:57 AM
I have a leather mask thing and boots but nada on the other stuff :p

10-16-10, 03:14 PM
Not gonna ask.

I am all for the use of boots...but leather facemask just sounds so wrong.

10-16-10, 04:25 PM
I have more than just that outa leather :P I have a fake leather trench coat xd several other boots and other motorcycle gear

10-16-10, 09:54 PM
You're oversharing, Paradox...

10-16-10, 10:04 PM
Yes. Yes you are.

10-16-10, 11:59 PM

I have the motorcycle to go along with the motorcycle gear tho lol

10-17-10, 02:20 AM
Fake Leather Trenchcoat.

That sounds so wrong. Probably a good SKA band name.

Don't get me wrong, up North we all wore longcoats, dusters, draggers, frocks, trench coats and on very rare occasions, cloaks, but usually only Romanian women. The reason for this is because Snowpants are just weird and how the hell are you going to convince a group of immigrants into wearing pants anyway? Unless they're Vikings...so coats, not snowpants... But Leather? Just plain weird. And FAKE Leather? even weirder...

Of course, a proper Bull-Denim coat is a wonderful thing and can stand up to Florida's pathetic weather, so I still own mine, in spite of not having snow here. In the rare event it is raining and I actually care to not get wet, I still wear it. Not having other lovely Pennsylvania-specific things down here, I have no need to wear it with the maille lining or steel plating either, which is good, because metal detectors already hate me and they're friggin' EVERYWHERE down here.

Know what Paradox? You'd probably get along with those weird people from the convention. With their crazy hair and leather and weird music and spikes and hypodermic needles...

10-17-10, 12:06 PM
What convention? Sting met me I doubt I seemed too weird cause he still talks to me :P

10-17-10, 12:11 PM
Yeah, he's pretty normal as far as a car enthusiast goes. :p

10-17-10, 12:17 PM
I think a birdy told me that a certain kilt wearing hearse driving guy might be a bit more abnormal than me :P

10-17-10, 02:01 PM
I think a birdy told me that a certain kilt wearing hearse driving guy might be a bit more abnormal than me :P

Okay, Fake Leather Trenchcoat Guy, I am VERY normal, just not here in Floridaland. I would have been even more normal if I was born a just a bit earlier. Preferably sometime before the 1450's, even if Cadillacs weren't around yet. I am equally skilled at driving other types of coaches.

10-17-10, 02:18 PM
I never purchased the fake leather trench coat. It was given to me and I wore it once for Halloween and it came from hot topic and is tripp brand :P
Only a few people noticed it was fake at the party anywho and I won a prize (psp) for the costume.

10-17-10, 11:44 PM
Now, boys, let's not fight over who's more the freak. It's unseemly. :D

10-18-10, 12:17 AM
Paradox is clearly the Freak...He's from the south. I win in Normality by default, my perceptions of reality say so and the Banshee outside my window agrees.

Fake Leather Tripp Trenchcoat from Hot Topic. That's just too much. It was however for the sake of Halloween, so it gets some credit. Where is the Halloween Costume/Yard Display thread? We need one.

10-18-10, 12:52 AM
I've never really done a set up of my own for halloween but I have helped others with theirs. I have also been paid to help with some in orlando and hopefully will get that this year too. I wish I could use the hearse to make some $ through october haha.

10-18-10, 12:13 PM
I wish I could use the hearse to make some $ through october haha.

Actually having difficulty doing that. Kat Hiatt, the director of recreations for Minneola met me once and really wanted me to help with the Halloween festivities up there, but never returns my calls. Maybe I need to just show up at her office.

10-18-10, 02:28 PM
I have already had 3 or 4 people offer to rent it/me hourly this year for parties but id have to get it running well. They don't even care how nice it looks

The halloween store would pay me $8 an hour to hold the sign for them and an additional $15 an hour to have the hearse with me plus gas mpg to the different locations.

10-18-10, 04:17 PM
$8/hr is that the going rate for ghouls his year?

10-18-10, 04:24 PM
Damn. I need a hearse. lol

10-18-10, 04:52 PM
Related to not caring how it looks:

In my opinion, the rough/battered looking hearses are a plus when used for Halloween. One in good condition just doesn't fit the bill.

10-18-10, 04:58 PM
Very true. It's like creepy patina.

10-19-10, 02:57 PM
I think a Hearse always looks fabulous, rusted full of holes or showroom-new. That's just the Pennsylvania in me. We also think we're normal, so disregard our opinions.

I thought about stopping by one of those Halloween store-thingies. I never knew such a thing existed until I came across one on a couple weeks ago OBT and tried to go in to see it, but they were having a meeting. They may have let me in if I was in my car, but I was in an avenger and clearly, that's not as awesome. I can't rent my car out ON Halloween, because I have far too much travel and whatnot to do that day, as it is an incredibly important religious holiday that I would be smitten for not acknowledging.

10-19-10, 03:06 PM
rust makes me sad :( on any car. Granted once it is too far gone to save yard ornamentation is not past me LOL.

10-19-10, 08:33 PM
Wish I still had a yard...

10-20-10, 12:44 AM
Dullahan, I'm just now seeing this thread, and just curious..how did your mind connect me with True Blood?

10-20-10, 03:00 AM
I see a "Trueblood" advertisement in magazine

I know what "Trueblood" is from learning about it in Wikipedia

I researched it because some name-unknown actress' photo came from Wikipedia

I saw said photo because there was a thread dedicated to her

You started the thread http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/community-lounge-introductions-general-discussion/210290-since-we-post-our-favorite-hot.html

10-21-10, 12:00 AM
..I had totally forgoten about that thread, although I do remember Ms. Paquin...fondly.
