Ok so once again I cant leave good enough alone (So my wife puts it :dummy:) Ive been talking about changing my tail lights to LED like the SUV. Well here is just a sample of whats coming......:shhh:

http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/3/513/469/26280234002_large.jpg

Im not done yet... still waiting on a few more lights to arrive. My plan is to have the 2 that are on now plus 2 more for the turn signal/brake lights. The tint really kills how bright the LEDs are but oh well... if it turns out good ill keep it and if not ill just take them off. Best part will be that if everything goes through this whole upgrade will only have cost me $50 Bucks!!! :highfive:

Glad you guys like it....

Took a few more pics... They are only on with a 9V battery so they are not as bright as they should be. If the rest of the lights come in tomorrow ill try to get them put in. Like I said... I plan on adding 2 more sets of lights on the outside to work as my brake lights / turn signals. So ill have a total of 4sets on each side. Only down fall is the tint on my tailz... it really does kill the light output... oh well :lildevil:

Oh yeah... forgot to mention that I added new Projector Foglights behind the Mesh TowHook Covers. Like I said B4 the tint on my foglights kills the output of my HIDs so I added these.... Whatcha Think? :suspect:

I like how they look since they are closer together than the factory foglights. Gives it a lil more Sporty look.

Like alwayz this isnt the end of my maddness..... So keep an eye out for 1 more
addition I have coming up... till then :canttalk:

Should really look killer with the turn signal 3rd brake light . Probably need resistors to get the turn signals to flash right , let us fellow Ext owners know !

What kind of Fogs did you add? How bright/brand etc. Did you have to remove the tow hooks? Do you ever ride with both sets of fogs on? Can you take a pic of all lights on. That is IF you will be able to look at it, must be blinding! The center fogs look great!

Again thanks for all the comps on my truck. Everything I do is to make it unique...but still keep it looking classy. I got my other LEDs in the mail today so I hope by the end of the week I can have them in and running. Dont worry you know Ill post pics as soon as im done (I think im notorious for that..lol)

I orderd a set of these... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250696787916&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

I already had a set of 6K H10 HID bulbs which I had in the factory fogs but since my tint is too dark I never used them. The reason I got these was becuase they take the H10 bulbs. So they are plug and play with the factory fog light bulbs. Lost anyone...? These fog lights will work with the factory fog light bulbs....but they just wont be as bright unless you buy a HID kit. Make sense? From the looks in the pic I should have gone with the 8K HIDs to match the other lights better...but oh well.

I did have to remove the tow hooks... but not like I ever planed on using them anywayz.. and mounted them there. If you want to keep your tow hooks Im sure you could figure something out to keep them. You will have to remove the black plastic cover around the tow hooks....which does make that opening look a lil ugly. You just cant tell with mine since I have the mesh tow hook covers. Still making sense? If you really wanted too im sure you could wire up an after market harness for the extra fog lights so you could run 4fog lights but personally I dont think that would look too good....and to be honest with these headlights ive never needed the fogs. Most of my stuff is for looks...lol

Alright so I got one light done tonight and got it all wired up and working.... So here is a few pics of the outcome....hope ya like it!!!

As you can see from the first pic I posted that once its hooked up to 12Volts the LEDs got brighter (Thank God...cuz that tint was killn the light output). I was using a 9Volt just to get an idea of how it would look.

I like to take my time and do all my work nice and clean... so now I can plug and unplug if I need to. Plus it looks way better (not that anyone will be looking at it but im just anal like that). I guess you can call it "PLUG-N-PLAY"...lol

Ill take pics of the final product after I finish up the other light..... till then ENJOY!!

How are you getting them in the housing ? Like one of those ships in a bottle through the lamp hole ? Turn signals blinking right ? Did you try the tail light housing from a regular Escalade ? Sorry for all the questions , I was thinking of doing the same mod but you are two or three steps ahead of me !! Again Killer ride !!

Yeah I am feeding them through the lamp hole.... and everything is wired up and working just like it should. The 2strips are the running lights.... so they turn on whenever the other ones would. The 2 on the outside turn on when you step on the brake and blink when the turn signal is on. So yeah everything works just like it should. I was planing on doing a vid of how everything looks/works after I finish the other side. Only problem is working 15hrs shifts makes it hard to get all this done quickly without wanting to go to sleep and do it later.

I was planing on getn the reg caddy tailz and cutting the back out and doing it that way.... but ive read on the tahoe forum that it was a pain in the ass to get them wired up and working plus some people had problems with them working in the long run... Plus finding a set of reg caddy lights cost $$$ and I would be cuting them plus cuting my lights and if they didnt come out right I would be out a good set of tailz and be in all kinds of problems. So I just waited to see if any company would make an aftermarket set of tailz but there has only been one ( http://www.wheelzngrillez.com/20chavbopled.html )but they are for Avalanche's even though they do fit onto the caddy. To me those lights look like they belong on a Avalanche and not a caddy...if you know what I mean. I wanted the vertical LED look. Not sayn anything bad about the Chevy but hey I bought a caddy for a reason. So long story short the way I did it I didnt have to cut anything and its all reversable.... and I sure as hell wasnt going to pay $350-$450 for some light that I wouldnt be happy with. I spent $50bucks and a few hrs and I got some better lookn lights....IMO

ALL DONE

Felt like forever but im all done with the lights..... check it out

-One thing.... I did have to change the lights around. B4 the running lights where on the inside...now they are on the outside and the brake/signal lights are the inside ones. Reason is cuz it was hard to see the the smaller lights on the outside with my tint. Lucky I made everything plug and play so I just had to switch my plugs and I was good to go :bouncy:

I'd like to hear about the headlight LED trim lights as well. Also, what did you do for the DRLs.. are those HID or LED or just a replacement bulb?

Just picked up a 2010 and looking to do a few tweaks.

So... I know it has been a couple of years but did you ever do a write up? I am looking to do the LED mod to my Tail lights. I found all of the parts just want to know if you used load resistors and how you kept the LEDs in place once they were in the tail lights.
Id PM but I only have a few posts

LOL.... Sorry I havent came back to this thread in a while. Things were starting to get kinda lame on here with everyone complaining....but im back.

So..... to answer a few questions.

patmack - the write up was kinda done on page 1 but i didnt get into too much detail since I didnt think anyone would wana do it (4real) sorry. Plus I figured the LED Lights were getn ready to come out.

quattrotman - When I made these custom lights the LED lights for the Avalanche were not out yet... thats why I made the post as "THE ONLY EXT WITH LED TAIL LIGHTS" . Now that they make LED tails for the Avy that fit the Caddy.... buy them instead of tryn to make them. Its worth the $$$.

Here is a few pics...

They are pretty nice. They do have the vertical SUV look. You can tell the difference between the real ones and the after market ones but they look better than the factory ones.... and yes they are stright plug and play. 5mins per side is all you need. No tools needed.

Ya I know this is an old thread and you did this mod a while back before the avy lights were available...where do you think I go the info on buying my avy LED tails?? :) I was just suggesting to Patmack that he get the avy lights instead of going through the trouble of modding escalade tails.
I Have the same tails as you but they are red smoked instead of the clear smoked. I really like them too. They are very bright and look great at night. My only complaint is that they aren't smooth like the escalade tails but rather have those 'chevy' indents in the middle of the light. Otherwise, very satisfied and can't beat the price...I think I paid $180 shipped!

Nice, Did you change yours Matchin? I have looked over your car domain several times trying to figure out the best way to make some. I found those Avy lights on ebay and I think Ill end up getting those. I ordered some Anzo lights for a regular escalade thinking I mihgt be able to make them work but it will take more work than I want to put into it. Thanks for the help.
