: Is there a double din kit that puts after market nav in the same location as factory?

This topic may have been discussed already but I am coming from the 02-06 forum. I am looking to install an after market navigation unit and am only finding this unit with the slot on top. Does anyone know where I can find other kits? Thanks in advance

That is the only kit they have unless you go custom.

I think the OP is trying to say if he can find a bezel that fits his nav unit right below his clock and not above the climate control.

I'm looking for one too, I've seen them but I have a feeling they were all custom fabbed.

No, there is not, one problem is the depth where the factory screen is. There is not enough clearance to easily put an aftermarket double din there. It can be done, I have one, but it has to be custom and done by a very skilled installer. The best looking kit I have seen is scosche but still not too attractive in my opinion.

I am having one made. I really hate wasting money, my system is costing enough as-is, but there's no point skimping now... My plan is to do a kenwood DNX9140 on bottom, and a kenwood 7" LZ-702IR monitor above it to watch movies as sort of a slave extra monitor. That way i can play movies/videos while having my nav screen up. The custom dash work is running $200 more than buying the ugly kit. I did come up with the thought of getting the scosche kit and lining that pocket with black velvet, and putting a small chrome emblem on the back wall with a blue led lighting up the emblem, but i think the two screens will be hot. i will post pics when done. I highly recomment the Kenwood DNX 9140 to anyone with an escalade, it will allow us to retain the 5.1 and center channel, as well as dual zone audio controls....

I haven't seen a double screen like that, make sure you post pics!! I went with pioneer z120bt and a 6 disc dvd/cd changer. It does not have 5.1 surround, but has Voice Recognition and I don't watch too many movies so surround doesn't really matter as much to me but it would be nice.

Why don't you go with the new Kenwood DNX9960? It can do all this and more.

I personally went with an Alpine INA W900BT, but I am still wanting a different dash kit. So if anyone has suggestions, I am listening!

Here is a pic of my install. This was a custom dash kit. Kenwood DNX9960 I have this tied into a 21" rear monitor installed on headliner. I have front and rear camera's.

I finally gave up and went custom. Problem is we ripped 1 corner of leather while installing. So we will re-cut tomorrow. Looks much better, I totally recommend doing it if you are going after market. I originally went with the scoshe kit and it was FUGLY! I'll post a few pics tomorrow night after the redo.

Much better that that ugly Scoshe kit! Those are my base knobs for my RF amps & subwoofers. I originally thought about doing a 2011 factory nav, but I always go after market, just easier usage. Not to mention everything (Bluetooth, unrestricted video and navigation + USB)already included. I still have onstar and my back up sensors. GM-OS4 and steering wheel controls. Built my knobs in for easily access. I am gonna purchase a box to replace the mid gate and call it a day unless I do the headliner

OK, I am still modding, but almost done. Working a midgate box in the EXT. I think the LED conversion will be next. Maybe even final??? I also picked up a Diablo sport Predator over the weekend. Here are a few pics of the sub box with a pair of Rockford Fosgate P3D412

How good are the midgate subwoofer boxes? They look good and I wanted one but the air space is kind of small for what most subs recomend. Do they sound good? Any one have the midgate with the the kicker l7s. did you like them

I love the midgate box. You lose the storage space for the rear glass. But other than that, no complaints. It looks better in the video now that I cleaned it up and put the terminals on. I also have a video of the Alpine rear view camera.
