: New setup and power estimate!?!?

Alright :)

This is what I am doing to my CTS-V:

Engine displacement 427 (fully forged for boosted application)
Compression 9.6:1 (to have better response at low-end)
Fully ported stage 3 heads (flow is about 360 CFM at .650 left)
Cam is about 220ish duration with a 120ish LSA for a smooth ride (still a Cadillac but with an attitude)
9.5" lower pulley
American Racing headers no cats (no cats for now, if it is too loud will put cats on)
Corsa exhaust
62 pound injectors
Air intake + K&N
Dyno Tune


Future upgrades are:

Upper pulley
Intercooler
Supercharger (ZR1 style maybe)
80 pound injectors
fuel pump

I have no idea what to expect from the setup but aiming to be in the 650 rwhp with amazing drivability! Drivability is very important to me so i am trying to make it not annoying to drive! It is still a Cadillac :)

So, what you all think?

man I highly recomend putting some HFC's on there unless this is a garage queen.

The smell of unburnt fuel just sucks!!

I have it on my z06 and wish I had put HFC's on it.

I would highly recommend you bite the bullet for the 2.3l supercharger. You would be expecting too much in my opinion from the 1.9l on a 427 and build any kind of boost without a ton of heat. A ported 1.9l would help but the 2.3l is the way to go.

You are not going to make 650whp with that setup. You might hit 650wtq down low. But you just are not going to be supplying enough air to the motor for 650. This motor will probably make peak power before 5500. Pulley the help out of this blower and see what you get then upgrade or go turbo.

What do you all think it will make? it should hit 600 rwhp!?! I did 550 with 9.5 lower pulley and full exhaust, air intake, headers. So i am asuming 50 to 100 rwhp more form the +CI, ported heads, cam, and a bit more Compression (.6). Lots of cars a saying 600+ rwhp from bolt on's :S

I would look into an aftermarket blower, Whipple, Magnason, etc.. I think for the money that would be your best bet, and put out the most power. There are a couple 800-900 hp big cubic inch lsx's that run blowers and are very streetable. With that bottom end, I would throw it the beans, 4.2L whipple would be awsome.

Fastlane does a ZR1 kit for our cars. But in regards to M-1028 post if you got the extra cash the 4.2L would be an absolute beast those things can spit out 30psi (1400+hp) the only catch is the are rear inlet and not sure if there is enough room for it to clear the firewall.

427 will need more duration on the cam with the heads than what you posted. It will make a lot of torque, but not so much on the high end. Now give it a 228-255 @50 and 610-650 119ls lift cam and it will hit that target and still be smoothish at idle.

Also for the price being the same, Why not go with a 440 or 450ci engine? Even more torque, Then you run a 10inch ring and you are set. ;)

Thanks everyone! :D My goal was to have it sound as stock as possible! i would not like to have a choppy idle Cadillac :p Guys, no one guessed the power output yet? I want to see what you all think! It will take some time to put it together, I but I am interested what power you all assume :)

I did not go with bigger motor because of side wall and compression sealing issues, I am trying to build a motor for boost in the future; who know maybe very very high boost :P I had a forced LS1 before and had problem with that; where the gasket could not handle the extra pressure in the cylinder! It kept blowing head gaskets, I tried everything, at the end it came up to that point where the engine and heads had no enough surface for proper sealing between cylinders.
