: Best Birthday Week Ever

My wife always claims it's her "birthday week" all week, where personally hate acknowledging my own day. But this is too good to not share...

A new car. The '95 deville finally crapped out like I expected, so I went with something a little more reliable. '86 Cutlass Supreme w/3.8 to match the 4.1 Cadillac in the driveway. 75k and not a spot of rust, new exhaust and really nice interior. The guy wanted $4500 and took $2000 cash. I've been watching pawn stars for practice.

Next I picked up a set of aluminum valve covers I've been wanting for a long, long time for the 472. Now I'm thinking, how cool would an olds 4-7-2 be? That '81 body aint gonna last forever.

And best of all, Ian Christopher. He came on the 18th and we got him home yesterday. I couldn't be more excited. Who here remembers their first ride in a Cadillac? How about home from the hospital?

I see he is surrounded by orange. That's clearly the best way to keep a child safe.

Congrats on your little one--enjoy the time when they are really little as it goes by really fast, hard to believe my daughter is already almost 3.

That Cutlass is really, really clean inside, nice purchase.

^ They were even cooler with the rally gauges too, Cadillacboy.

I really miss the one we had. :(

Rally gauges ? that sounds even cooler I echo on that Stingroo .

Yeah, this is the cluster that our car had:

I remember when that car rolled over to 100k, we were at my grandmother's house and for some reason dad asked me to go get the reading off the odometer, and I said "1,xxx" (I don't remember exactly, lol I was like 8) and dad said "You mean ONE-HUNDRED and one thousand." I had never heard of a car with a 6 digit odometer back then.

That was a hilarious story :D

Makes me wonder why older cars came with 5 digits instead of 6 , perhaps engineers were too pessimistic that those cars would fail to turn in 100K miles lol

Your car even had a voltmeter ,this is my fave gauge :D

Love to see a photo of the factory wires on your Coupe DeVille. In later years you and little Ian will share some great birthday bashes I'm sure.
