: Battery in FOB dying?

Is the receiver for the unlock/lock/alarm/start buttons the same receiver as that in the door? Sometimes lately when I go up to the car, it doesn't automatically detect the fob and unlock the door as it should. I press the unlock button and nothing happens either. I have to use the key to open the door.

My question is basically: Does that sound like the antenna in the door is going bad as many have complained about, or does the battery in the fob just need to be replaced?

I would start with replacing battery in FOB.

As your vehicle is an '06 (and assuming you've never changed the battery before) the battery is got to be your first choice. They're only a couple bucks and very easy to change so start with the easiest/simplist fix first.

Most definitely was the battery. Target sells the 2pack of the CR2032 Lithium batteries for about $6.00USD

you can get them cheaper, but that's an okay price
