I bought this car about 3 years ago and have been slowly fixing it up. It is a real SE (Bandit Edition), Pontiac 400 engine, auto trans. An engine rebuild with s a few performance goodies is next on the horizon. Here are some pix.
I need to upload some of the current pix. Those have the newly painted wheels.

Looks nice, body looks like it's in good shape. When is due for its "Flaming Chicken"?

I always love that body style... I do love Camaroes of that style much more than newer Camaros as well.. BTW, that black paint needs a good reconditioning...

Looks nice. One of my best friends has an '81 Trans Am 4.9 that he got last October from a guy in Iowa for $3500. It needs a lot of work, but it's his project, and he's slowly but surely making progress on it. Like yours, it's black with the black cloth interior, and it came from the factory with the Pontiac 4.9L V8, without the turbo, so it wasn't nearly as quick as your '79 was, but it's still got the same look. The previous owner, however, put in a 400 from a '68 Catalina, with a new intake manifold, heads, carburetor, cams and some other stuff. They really kinda half assed everything and now he's gotta get it re-straightened out. Right now, he's doing bodywork. He's removed both front fenders, the hood and taken the front bumper off to de rust and apply a sealer to all the metal, and then repaint it. He'll have the entire body done by the spring.
These were taken when he bought the car last October.

Doesn't the Bandit edition have the other front clip?
Mullet or no mullet, the second generation Camaro/Firebird is my favorite body style for these cars. I do prefer the front end fron the '77-'78 Firebirds better that the later front end. In my opinion the '78 Firebird was one of the st looking cars of the seventies.

Madonna likes f-bodies
I agree with the above, personally I like the '78 era nose a lot more then the 80s style.

I love these cars. My uncle has an '80 TTA (so turbo 4.9) and yes, Chad, it is indeed ORANGE. I want it so badly. :( My dad had a '79 in high school too. It was a beast of a car from everything I've ever heard about it, but it was sold before I was born.
