Although Volkswagens and Audis have shown the influence of this fine Italian design company for many years, the parent company Volkswagen Group has finalized the purchase of Italdesign Giugiaro SpA this week.

It should come as no surprise that the cimpany has been calling on the design firm for at least a decade for the design of the various lines of its' cars. The purity of line and the clean functional interior design have been setting VW group's products apart from their other German brands for many years. And hopefully will affecting the company's design in apositive way for years to come.

Italdesign has long been one of the leading Itakian auto and industrial design firms and has been reponsible for many of the designs that have gone into production for Aston-Martin, Ferrrari, Peugeot and Mazda to name a few.

Although Audi and Volkswagen have been remarkable for retaining beautiful and tasteful designs during the recent past's Bangle Butt period, I hope this acquisition will keep those great designs coming in the future.

Now if VW could just match their products' beauty with reliabilty and lower cost of maintenace they would be a force to reckon with, even in the U.S.
