bank 1 sensor 2. i get code 0140 within 1 min of starting/driving car. should this code even register that quickly if valid? motor is nowhere near warm. might take a few days with no codes and than i get 0141. if i drive on highway at lift throttle i will usually get 1139. 3 codes for 1 sensor seems to mean something.

Depending on your car, year, and model (assuming these are P codes), B1S2 is either the before or after cat O2 sensor: models up to about 2000 had 2 cat sensors while 2000+ has only an after cat one. P0140 and 0141 indicate that the sensor itself is faulty.

Here's a diagram of the 2000+ locations - pre 2000 would have a sensor just at the flex tube in front of the cat, so then the Bank 1 sensors become: manifold = B1S1; pre-cat = B1S2; after cat = B1S3.

forgot car info. its a 96 sts. had bad HG 2 yrs ago so perhaps sensor got fouled. i have replaced this sensor before. but that was 5+ yrs ago. it is a heated sensor so i assume the computer is looking for info fairly quickly? within 1 minute of starting the car?
