Looking at taking the vinyl off and I'm wondering what it takes. I found some 79 caprice rear window trim that might fit, how about the little window?

Thats a good point, I dont think we ever talked about the little window on a coupe. LayitLow would probably have some pics

The 77-79 Coupe DeVilles without the padded roof have a body color plastic insert that fits in the depression between the C-pillar sheet metal and the quarter-window glass. Finding one won't be easy.

Sounds easy-ish to fab up.

Find a picture of one so you can see what you're getting yourself into. Easier to do this project on a sedan. Good luck! :)

There was one for sale in Conn. last year. I doubt they sold it. They wanted too much and the battery was dead.

Did a little looking around. Apparently the glass is the same, it is just the trim that is different.

Here is the trim required (for sale over on layitlow.com):

And, if you google image, you can find bare top 77-79s:

One other consideration is the inside trim. The back window on the vinyl top-less coupes, sedans too, may have different interior trim since the back window is more open without the vinyl. Check it out so you will know if you need to change the inside trim also to make it look right from the outside. Good luck on this project! :)
