I can't find the vin number on my 1969 Cadillac Calais! :bonkers:

I know where the vin numbers usually are, on the dash visible through the windshield...but it's missing :(

Anyone know where else the vin was stamped? I've heard they are also stamped on the frame but where on the frame? that's a lot of frame to search. Any help would be great.

This exact question was asked in 2008, without resolution. The only advice offered on that thread was to contact the state police and have them locate the 6 other hidden VINs.

thanks Sven. I will continue to search on my own as I can't drive the car to the state police if it's not registered. maybe I could have one of them come out and look at it? :S

I would go to them and ask if they can give you a list of all the places the VIN would be. The information is supposed to be SNS, but if you produce proof of ownership, they might tell you.

I thought someone here found it on the front inside frame rail below the radiator on the passanger side. Like across from the steering box.

VIN plate on your car will be riveted to the the front edge of the driver's side door opening between the hinges.

That's where it is on my '67 Pontiac.

Nope, the VIN plate on a '69 Cadillac is riveted to the front IP cowl on the driver's side and is visible through the windshield from outside the car. The VIN is also stamped on the frame rail on the passenger side as described above. It may be obscured by rust, so bring a stiff wire brush and a flashlight and start searching. Assuming the engine is original to the car, you can also find the broacast number on the rear upper engine block on the driver's side, just behind and below the carb. As a Calais sedan, your VIN will begin with N9 (N = Calais HT sedan, 9 = 1969 model year), followed by the broadcast number.
