OK, the setup;
05 STS4 1SG N*, clear dry roads, average speed, traction control active, brake and enter 45 degree turn.
Problem - car bogs down, power to wheels is lost and DIC says traction control activated. Clears up as vehicle resumes straight track. Does not happen if I disable TC manually prior to manuver.
Anyone?
Thanks.................. Joe P
Traction control will activate on bumpy roads. It's annoying! If you happen to be going over bumps when you enter the turn, even if you don't lose traction, TC will activate with even the slightest wheel-hop. I often deactivate TC because in New Jersey the roads are poorly maintained and even normal to brisk acceleration can cause TC to activate.
Have a tech check the wheel speed sensors, the steering angle sensor, and the yaw rate sensor with a good scanner. I've seen a bad steering angle sensor cause the stability control to activate at any turn.
Good suggestion on the sensors, I will try to get to the dealer. No, no bumps or damaged roadway during the activation.
And yes, I usually hit the traction disable after my finger comes off the ignition button. I just wish that OFF was the default. After all, I kinda know how to drive by now.
Thanks guys.................... Joe P
PS - was wondering if anyone else has had this issue?
I have the same issues with my 05 1SG even after I had the transmission reflashed. Now I just hit the TC button like you but something is def wrong but I just live with it .
I think the AWD TC cannot be completely disabled. They deleted the limited-slip rear-end on AWD and used the system to ensure an idiot driver doesn't burn up one tire.
In my experience, the MXM4's are too hard a compound to provide good traction in normal to poor conditions. Energy are even worse. Michelin used to be one of the best tires; and a good buy. Now they are spendy and many drivers prefer others.
Sounds like what I had..turned out to be a wheel sensor.
