I know I will regret doing this, but I want to get back into a turbo Porsche. The car is a 2010 White Diamond on Black with Recaros, Nav, Ultraview, Suede, Pollished wheels = has every option and just 7700 miles. It is priced very well - especially since it is a 2010 6-speed. Here is a link to the ebay listing:

well if you do I'm interested. I just thought you might get more for it and sell it faster if you had the mods removed....

Regardless Best of luck with the sale!!!

It has the warranty of course, the issue is finding a dealer that will still work on it. I know in Houston there is 1 known dealer that is "mod" friendly. Another one won't honor it if they see the mods. Kinda just depends on the dealer. If that dealer in AL is mod friendly, I hope that who ever buys it is a local.

I don't know if the mods will hurt it or help it, but I guess we will see.

It is the Recaro seat V cleaning cloth for the suede. Never been out of the bag or off the seat.

See even the dealers get told the wrong info. Our product trainer told the sales people it was for the recaro seats. I can't wait to tell him he is wrong. :)

Yes, I received one with my non-Recaro V. Haven't actually used it, though.

They must not teach the dealers people to read either. The instructions are in that bag telling you how to use the cloth on the plastic.
Sorry to officially "jack" your thread. At least it is keeping it on the top.

Hey bud, are you sure the car has a 160* stat? It looks like the gauge says 210*.

I agree, all of the LS engines come from the factory running 200-220*. If you install a 160* stat, it should stay near 160*. The reason these cars run hot is because of the 210* stat they come with stock. Whats the point of installing a lower degree stat if it dosn't lower your temp?

I don't know for sure, but mine stays at 210. So I would assume it has a 210* stat. My camaro had a 210 in it also.

interesting... I thought I had a 160 in my z, but know I have seen temps north of 220 on hot TX days.

Maybe I didn't have a 160 put in, I need to look at that.

it could have a 160 in it. If the tuner did not tell the ECU that it has a new thermostat it will still think it has a 210 and not benefit from it.

I don't know....maybe I have a totally wrong understanding...but I think that when you change to a 160 deg. t-stat, all it is doing is allowing the coolant to flow through the engine when the engine temp. hits 160 deg. I don't think the coolant temp. will necessarily stay at that temperature of the t-stat.

Tom

You can't program and t stat, its mechanical. When the coolant gets up to 160, the stat opens. Could the engine be running at 160 but the gauge says 210, yes.

Unless it's different with new engines, the temp of the stat is what the engine should run. My 383 has a 180* in it and it runs 180-190. I've had diff. temps in previous engines and what ever the stat is, thats what the engine runs.

The whole point of a lower stat is to make the engine run cooler, for a denser air charge. They run so hot from the factory because of emissions.

That's correct. It should just stay cooler longer. If it's hot outside the engine is still going to heat up.

I understand how the tstat works. It's a spring with a device in it that upon certain temp it opens to allow coolant though. With the new engines having less cylinder wall, being pushed to their max and all the coniditions combined also due to the materials they do not perfor like they used to. The engines still run hot. It also depends on ambiant conditions and driving conditions. When it's 101 outside I was in stop and go traffic and my z06 with a 160 stat was running 225-230. Never went anywhere else.

This being said when I am discussing my mod options with a vendor on this site, and I hope he chimes in here and explains it better, he said that In the V, if you don't tell the computer it has a 160 stat in it, then it doesn't use it to it's full potential. I have not opened the program, nor know the language, just saying what he told me.

I found it. The fans from the factory come on at/aroud 210. IF the tuner does not adjust the fans to come on at the new 160 then you won't really get the benefit from the colder t-stat.

Also the GM is known for not using a very accurate gauge on your dash, so... it may be cool enough and we may not even know it.

I'd guess that the fan wasn't turned on early...

It had been idling for a while, and it is 100+ here in Alabama in June-August. It normally runs about 180 on the highway according to the gauge.
