I might purchase a 5-year subscription for $44.95 to ALLDATA (http://www.alldatadiy.com/) and I'm interested in any comments as to whether it's worth subscribing to. It looks like a good deal but it depends on the quality of the repair information. ALLDATA is owned by AutoZone. The OEM repair manual is over $100, so I figure if ALLDATA has quality info. then it would be worth subscribing.

a friend of mine runs an independent shop and uses alldata - he's pretty happy with it

I have access to my friend's alldata program. The part I don't like is pretty cryptic pictures. They use hand drawings rather than photographs. I suspect that is how they reduce the size of the database files. Other than that it is pretty good and up to date with TSBs and recall info.

Most factory manuels don't have real pictures either. I think they assume you are a certified mechanic and don't need additional help.
