View Full Version : What goes here...? CTS Orlando 09-10-04, 01:36 PM In the passenger side of my trunk ('04), there is a spot where there are 4 mounting holes, looks like an accesory or storage pocket of some kind belongs mounted there. Can anyone tell me potentially what belongs there? Balforth 09-10-04, 01:51 PM a dustbuster Killrwheels 09-10-04, 01:57 PM a dustbuster
DOH !! :jawdrop: CTS Orlando 09-10-04, 02:10 PM Sweet!! I just called the Cadillac dealer, they have the dustbuster enhancement kit in stock!! I cant wait to pick it up, they said they even have the upgrade from the 3.2volt to the 3.6volt!! Its also supposed to add an additional 13.25hp to the overall power, at the rear axle!! Balforth 09-10-04, 02:25 PM i didn't have much of a use for a dustbuster, so i opted for the optional chrome-framed margaret thatcher photo.

I'd hit it! canaveral 09-10-04, 05:49 PM The engineers at GM are making an all out effort to save weight in order to improve fuel economy and performance. These holes along with the four others in the roof just above where the door closes have increased gas mileage, improved 0 to 60 times and saved the General a ton of money in steel. Way to go GM. CTS Orlando 09-10-04, 06:21 PM As I share your sick minds and twisted sense of humor; I was once upon a time looking for a legitimate response... :banghead: On my '99 STS there is a thing like that just it has a little shelf in the middle and then there is a cover that pops on and covers the whole thing there. The cover is grayish black and has a handle on it. If I'm not mistaken it's for a roadside safety kit (flares, first aid kit) on European export models. Some folks have fitted a first aid kit in there, also.
Hey cfd092, did you or any of your family work in the New Departure Hyatt plant in Clark? I spent a couple summers working at NDH in Sandusky, OH and my father worked there for 31 yrs. No, but know about 10 guys who did, fought a fire or 2 there. Would you believe the site is now a 9 hole golf course, miniature golf and a driving range. CTSJerry used it for a first aid kit...using the holes for mini bungie cords. CTSJerry used it for a first aid kit...using the holes for mini bungie cords.
That is a great idea, but was that ACTUAL purpose of the space? CTS Orlando 09-13-04, 03:47 PM That is a great idea, but was that ACTUAL purpose of the space?
NYCTS, that was my whole purpose for starting this thread, What exactly goes there? So far I've determined, either a: Dustbuster, Chrome Framed Picture of Margaret Thatcher, Holes drilled purely to save weight and increase fuel economy, a little shelf thing with a handle, a Roadside safety kit for the European models, or a first aid kit. I would say at this point, that its safe to assume that nobody who has read this thread actually has something mounted in that spot from the factory. As cool as the DustBuster option is, I think that a European Roadside safety kit sounds most viable. I like CTSJerrys bungie trick too. I plan on using the dead spot to mount an amplifier. I have 2 of those spaces in my trunk. One on each side, however the one on the right side has the holes and the one on the left does not. I was thinking about installing and amp there too or possible a subwoofer stealth box. But in any case I would like some official confirmation from Cadillac on what was the original intention of the spaces and why the holes??? Anybody got a direct line to Cadillac or possibly an ear? I think if we did we would be getting some feedback on customer CTS complaints in the forum.
