Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum and a new Caddy owner. This is my first Caddy and its a 66 Coupe DeVille. I have been interested in this car for quite some time and stumbled upon this one and felt that t was a great deal and I didnt want to pass it up.

The car is a 66 Coupe DeVille, 88k original miles, power bucket seats, power windows, and everything works. The interior is super clean, exterior has all trim and pieces there and in great shape, and there is some minor surface rust from what I can tell but should be easily managable when I repaint it. I plan to build this car and debut it at the 2011 SEMA show. Any tips, advice, or resources you guys would like to share would be much appreciated.

I tried to post pics but I need 5 post before I can do so.

What are your plans? To get it to the SEMA show you have to have something super special planned otherwise......

Well, anyone can DRIVE to SEMA ;) lol

Use an image host like photobucket to host and post your pics.

Welcome, and can't wait to see the car!

Well the car is a gold color, not sure if its the original color or not, and its got a black vinyl top. The interior is black.

Yeah, this will be my second SEMA car. In 08 I brought my 70 Chevelle and when I get permission to post pics I will post one of it as well.

I tried to use photobucket originally which is how I normally post on forums but it said I needed more posts.

Gold/black is a very mid-60s color combo and likely original to your car. Are you going mild or wild with the customization?

Yeah, it looks to be the factory color and the car runs great although it has a pretty bad oil leak.

I am going to go touch of mild and wild. Going to go with big wheels, redo the motor, shave alot of the exterior, paint, new custom seat wrap, audio etc. It will be clean and classy but with a touch of new era mods.

looks nice. Only thing I don't like about it is the stock tail lights I never cared for. Looks to nice overall to mess with for me lol People here will want to cannibalize any parts you take out.

The wheels on that Chevelle are entirely too large. Needs some rubber man.

That's my problem with the SEMA(n) show. Too flashy for my taste. That's a GORGEOUS Cadillac.

The Chevelle looks good. It would look better with the same diameter wheels front and rear, though. Bagged?

That Cad is too nice to resto-mod. Keep it stock, and look for something rough to mod! BTW, that glass bottle with coolant in it is supposed to have windshield washer fluid ;)

I was going to ask what was up with the soda bottle?

Wow, nice car. I was undecided about 66 or 67 but you just made up my mind for me. This is a nice original, what mods do you have in mind? These pics look familiar, did you get it from a forum member? MN plates, you in/from MN?

Gorgeous car! I'm with Jay; too nice to mod. If it was a beater, it'd be different, but it's just kinda sad to screw up a nice original car like that.

I get that alot from people but you would have to go for a ride to believe how well they actually ride and perform. I personally dislike any wheel under 20". Just too old school for me.

The Chevelle has 20/22 and it gives it more of a hot rod look with the stagger like that and yes it is bagged.

Only mods i really have in mind are paint and body work, possibly engine rebuild, clean up engine bay, wheels and tires, air ride, 4 wheel disc conversion, and some interior and trunk work. I plan to leave the interior mostly stock with the addition of some audio equipment, and the carpet needs replaced and seats could be recovered so I will do something custom with that.

As for the MN plates.....I am from Florida but I have been in Minneapolis for 6 months building two restaurants. I am getting ready to head back to Florida but I have been interested in getting a caddy for a year or two now and stumbled on this one online. I went and looked at it and it was cleaner than I expected and the price was right so I bought it.

Is there an alternative to the stocks? I might when I paint the car try to tint the tails and have a LED light board made to work in them.

i've seen a few modded to fit other gen cadillac lenses and seen custom made ones that is about it. I doubt there is an aftermarket or second option tail light for this year.

I had some really nice LED front turn signals and rear lights from this company on my Chevelle. http://www.spaghettiengineering.com/comersus/store/home.asp

I just contacted them to see if they would be interested in making something for this car.

That car is so clean...If I were you I wouldn't touch it at all...maybe clean up the interior but other than that I'd drive it just like that.

I grew up in Lighthouse Point and my parents still live there but I live in Deerfield now on the border of LHP and Deerfield right on the intercoastal

Cool. I lived on the corner of Hillsboro and US1 pretty much, right by The Cove.

Then we moved to Crackhaven... what a mistake.

That '66 looks like it's in pretty good shape! Condition that leather interior though, it looks like it's drying up a bit!
