Think about it.. A 3.0 Twin Turbo V6 is coming... If the rumors of a 400 horsepower 3.5 liter EcoBoost Ford Taurus SHO is on the way, than how unlikely would it be for GM to squeeze 375-400 hp out of this TT engine and place it into a Regal?

Yes. Slotted in between the 3.6DI and CTS-V... Something to compete with the BMW 335i.

As if I needed two more reasons to increase my lust for the current gen CTS...

I would be pretty excited if this were to happen.

A Gran National cannot be a Sedan. GTO Sedan? Road Runner Sedan?

I'm sure a coupe variant wouldn't be all too difficult to put together...

That engine needs to go into the LaCrosse.........

This car would be awesome but they need to redo the air intakes on the front end somehow, right now they look like fangs with their shape and the chrome bezels around them.

They just need to stay w/GS or GSX -- not go the Grand National route -- that dumpling looking thing will never be a G-body Grand National.........

:yeah: I do like the look of the new car though. "Fang" vents and all.

I don't really mind the look of it -- it's nice seeing the tri-shield on such a good car. I like the new LaCrosse as well -- however it's no Electra 225..... They should use the stretched XTS model, however and do a new Electra...that would rock. I'd rather have that than an XTS......

Consciously and publicly choosing a Buick product over a Cadillac product, on a Cadillac site!? BLASPHEMY!!!:hitstick:

When said Cadillac really shouldn't even be a Cadillac -- I see no problem...

I was kidding. I think it's kind of obvious at this point that you have an irrational love affair with Buicks. ;-)

Front wheel drive GNX; I don't think so. Well I guess they can call it anything they want but shouldn't (IMO).

p.s. The Detroit Free Press says that this has been given a 'green light'.

That sedan IS NOT a Grand National. Call it what you will, but do not muck up such a historic name.

#1 It is not RWD.
#2 Where are the sharp angles??? Buick has been building some decent looking cars these days, but I'd never spend my $$$ on something so rounded/bubbleriffic. The bubble styling was a thing of the 90's, it should stay in the past.
#3 WTF is with sedans these days??? Why can't we have a large domestic 2 door with decent interior space, big trunk, nice appointments, good power for under 35k? Seems like the only options in that category are Japanese(Solara, Accord, Altima) and the Dodge Challenger.

Good power for "under $35K" !!!!!!!!!!!

WooHoo!!!! In 3/65 I ordered and bought (5/65) a new Chevelle Malibu SS 327ci/350hp 4-spd 3.31:1 posi with HD cooling & battery, P/S and P/B delete, tinted glass, radio, A/C delete, 7.75/14 Wide Ovals, transistor ignition, full instrument panel and heater - Emerald Green Metallic with camel interior. I still have the invoice: $2388, delivered !!!

(dkoz will remember this: It had a PITA cartridge oil filter - spin-on filters were just starting.)

(dkoz will remember this: It had a PITA cartridge oil filter - spin-on filters were just starting.)Adjusted for inflation, that's $16,500. You're not going to get anything new with much performance and/or power for that today.

Betty was $3,828 in 1964, which comes to $26,926 today. And she still had the cartridge oil filter. I swapped it for a cartridge when doing the engine rebuild, but I still have the cartridge case.

I owned an '87 GN and at least in my opinion I would be fine if Buick re-used the name. "GNx" is the halo name and should be stayed away from. That being said how about "Regal GS T-type"?

Stingroo
08-15-10, 04:20 PM
Just T-type or GS. Both is overkill.

Brett
08-15-10, 04:31 PM
I would agree with that, my assumption was the turbo engine would be part of a trim package on the GS thus the use of both. Regal T-type sounds good to me.

Stingroo

Regal T-type it should be.

I like T-Type, but along those lines, shouldn't the 97-04 Regal GS have been called the "S-Type"? (just like the 1979-80 Turbo Regals)

This topic says Chad was last to post on it, but I don't see anything past Florian's post. Odd.

Could they build something more attractive around the engine? :cool2:
