Ok, every time i tried to post in the "show us your caddy" thread my computer did the "cannot display page" thing, so i gave up and posted here.... anyways, just bought this '05 STS V6 with 41k miles for $16k with the remaining 12 months of CPO warranty, I had an '07 yukon denali that shit the bed at 60k miles and I had the tow truck bring it to the nearest GM dealer which happened to be a caddy dealer, it was going to be almost $5k to fix the denali (which I still had a $30k note on) or they said they'd take it in on trade towards a caddy, i thought it was kinda funny that the Powertrain Control Module wasnt covered under the powertrain warranty, lol... but it all worked out in the end, cut my debt in half and ended up with this sweet STS that was taken VERY good care of, I cant believe its 5 years old. Here are a few pics, basically stock except for the window tint and roof spoiler that I did... It also did not come with the spoiler but I put a factory one on. I dont know too much about this generation of STS, my father had an '02 pearl white STS that I loved and wanted one of those styles forever, but I do like this one, very tight and quick with pretty good gas mileage (granted im coming from a yukon), although the ride leaves a little to be desired.

It is the package you have on the car. For $1000 you could replace the wheel for the wooden one. I did. I like it much better.

Because your model didn't have that wood trim package,ie; 1SE or 1SG and probably more trims but not sure. You are missing wood on the shifter and the door panels too.

You have a 1SB thats why. A slightly optioned V6 model. The wood stack instead of aluminum gives it away. You dont have the wood wheel, shifter, door panel trim Nav, 18" wheels which would indicate a fully optioned V6 a 1SC. If you want I have the OEM wood shift knob and a wood kit I can sell you, I bought them for my 1SE but totaled it and upgraded to a 1SG STS4 with everything already installed.

Models are as such

1SA- Base V6
1SB- Optioned V6
1SC- Fully Optioned V6
1SE- Base V8
1SF- Optioned V8
1SG- Fully Optioned V8

The only major features which were ALWAYS optional were HUD, ACC, Perf Handeling Package, AWD, Chrome 18"s, Platinum Package.

It's easy--the switches unscew from the steering wheels and just interchange them. You will have one unconnected wire on the wheel that you just leave that way. I did it and it's a 10 minute job.

I think hes asking if the heating element will work which no it wont.

thanks.... I got the roof spoiler on ebay... $80 painted to match and shipped, very high quality paint and looks awsome i think, took about 2 weeks to get to my house and took 10 minutes to install with two people

The switches in the STS mostly aren't mechanical switches at all. Trim levels dictate the wiring harness installed.

The car's network is actually quite a cool idea; each control puts a specific signal or resistence on the network bus. I'm probably using incorrect terminology; I'm no engineer. (There are more than a few members who are or have been GM engineers.)

I think you're out of luck unless the trim level of your car had the heated wheel. Of course, that doesn't mean impossible, just senseless. If you're willing to spend as much as it would cost to trade-up, go for it!

Nice wheels! Looks like it was a well maintained 2005, much like mine :)

Good price too, most of the STS's I see in MA would be a little more money, even for a (roughly) base package.
