Not sure if any of you have had a moment where you grinned from ear to ear and knew exactly why you bought your car or not but post em here if you have...

On the way to dinner Saturday night I was one a real windy twisty road through the back roads of northern california and a young guy in a suped up WRX roared up behind me and flashed the lights like he wanted to go past. I hit the sport suspension button and took off like a rocket! We went a couple of miles with me haul'n azz and him trying to keep up. Obviously the V was faster but he was pretty fearless so it was closer than it should have been. We hit the fork in the road and gave each other a wave when we went separate ways. I had the biggest grin on my face since xmas when I was about 5 yrs old. What a riot, what a great car!

Every penny of what I spend on the car was worth it for that little run!

I had a moment like that. It was the day after my tune and my brother and I were on the PCH just past Malibu , traffic was horrible and a guy in a Porsche 911 Carrera S has been riding my a** for a few miles. Then it happened... traffic opened up I put it in sport mode and mashed the throttle. We pulled away from him so fast that the last thing I saw in my rearview mirror was him mouth "Holy Sh*t". It would have been no contest even in stock form but with the extra boost it was a riot.

That was my first Ah-ha moment in the car.

Mine was just north of that; returning from the bay area, I decided to cut off 101 and come down through Malibu along the coast. Just south of the cutoff along the boring part an SRT-8 was riding my a$$; I went about 3/4 throttle--just to give him hope; as he inched up on me again I matted it--buh-bye...

A lot of non-car guys and gals wonder why I need such a powerful car. I respond by telling them that modern high performance cars (like the CTS-V) now have it all: the best brakes, drivetrain and suspension which give the driver more options to get out of an unexpected dangerous situation on the road. Many times powering out of trouble is better than hitting the brakes and heading for cover. I smile every time that I downshift to pass a car on a 2-lane road, knowing that I have nearly unlimited power and stable handling to let me pass safely in all reasonable situations.

Also, I just like the sound when I crank it up. :lildevil: What a hoot!

This comment is so true! These morons on the road can't hit what they can't catch sometimes. Like the little old lady that can't see two feet in front of her but yet she has a license. Nice to get the hell out of her way and with this beast...its rather simple.

So true, here in AZ you only have to renew your drivers license every 30 years... If I see blue hair I mash the throttle to get away from them.

JFJr,

I am going to use your first paragraph with my wife to justify the expense on my next round of mods. "It's for our safety, sweetheart.."

The day after my break-in period.

I was leaving work. I got on the entrance ramp to 95 South. I looked to the left for merging traffic. None.

I looked ahead for traffic in front of me. None. You all know the rest.

And on some SRT8 board some guy is posting that he was about to pass you until you cheated and hit the NOS button. :)

One night after our city council meeting, I , the Mayor was talking about my V to a councilman. I told him that it was outside , and asked him if he wanted to go for a quick spin. He is a young guy that had been around fast cars and presently has a hot chevy p/u sitting at home in his garage. He told me that he had read a lot about the V's. So he was excited that we were about to go for a ride. We headed down a Texas FM road with my Escort on when I told him to "nail it". He let off of the gas pedal around 120MPH, and was nearly speechless, and that my friends was the moment that I knew how much I loved this car.

Recently put a good friend behind the wheel and went for a blast. I told had him to take the TC off, put the tranny in sport mode and encouraged him to get on it. Since he was wearing a short sleeve shirt he kept telling me to look at the goose bumps that raised on his arms every single time he jumped on it.
He simply couldn't what he was experiencing and didn't want to stop driving!

Would love to spend a day just zig-zagging back and forth between the valley and the coast across the Santa Monicas... I hear the V1 guys get out there semi-regularly.
