I got a few "tins" (OCC lingo) back from the paint shop today. Lot's of guys are air brushing these things, but I prefer just a color matched look. Got some nice compliments at the car show today in VA Beach.

What are "tins"? I'm lost.

Sweet car though. What's she put down to the wheels?

Thanks for the compliment. I took the term "tins" from Orange County Choppers. In my case it refers to a firewall cover, ABS pump cover (passenger side), Fuse Box cover (passenger side) and radiator shroud. I also had the ProCharger coolant tank color matched (driver's side). The car made 526rwhp at 6.3psi and netted a best 11.65@119 in the quarter mile. I'm done racing it as I don't want a cage and frankly I'm tired of beating on her. LOL.

I had a black one and traded it in at 33,000 miles to buy a silver one. That was when the economy was in a little better shape. Now I "drive 'em into da' ground". Currently at 91,000+ miles, 27,000+ miles with the Procharger. Really been a fun car for me.

08-09-10, 09:40 PM
Jim's right. It's never enough. I had a nice run last week with some crotch rocket. I think he was surprised to see me hanging with him at 185mph and still pulling. Not sure what top speed would've been but she was still pulling pretty damned hard.

Once you get a S/C, your just a pulley change and a tune away from another 50rwhp. My buddy's running 600+rwhp, hitting high 10's and he's not satisfied. Getting ready for NO2 and the next size up D1 ProCharger.

CVP33
10-29-10, 08:43 PM
Update. I told you guys that my buddy was upping his power. Well a forged short block, F1 procharger and a new cam netted a 10.21 pass. A 75 shot netted a 10.02 before the transmission gave up the ghost. Trans will be rebuilt next week and 9's are a mere dyno tune away. Crazy, just crazy.

Yeah the F1 is very noticeable even over the exhaust. Not like my piddly P1SC. You can actually hear the lazy 2/3 and then 3/4 shift. Had the trans been up to the task that car would've run 9.80's easy. Unfortunately they had a bad torque converter 2 weeks ago and it appears now that some metal found it's way into the trans. Ah well, a newly prepped one is on the way and I suspect within 2 weeks this record will be broken again by the same car. Currently the fast 6.1L boosted car in the US.

Update for me and my bud. Mike Smith with the blue bee has now run a best 9.27 @ 140+mph in his daily driver. He won the Mopar vs. the world race at VMP two weekends ago running consistent 9.80's on blower only. The car has now been fitted with the proper cage and 'chute and will be deep into the 8's very soon with a new intake manifold and progressive shot.

My build finished 3 months ago and we're now at 625rwhp. So far has run a best 11.04 @ 126.70mph. She's run a best of 128.82mph so we know it's making the power. Just need to do better than a 1.69 60'. Here's a really crappy phone video + me getting "treed" hard.

Going well. Last year has been a wild ride. Changed jobs, moved to NC and now have a company car. Decided to turn my 300 into a beast..........and it is. Currently at 105,750 miles. Drag racing and road coursing it every chance I get. Itching to get back to VIR, just haven't had the time.

Yes, 4,444 pounds with me and fuel. Some people were doubting the rwhp figure until they saw the mph and I told them the weight of the car. Simple math. Wait until next weekend. We have Mopars at the Rock and it should be 20* cooler than when I ran my 11.04. Should be able to get to a 10.9X. Can't freaking wait.

Procharger P1SC running at 9psi
HHP stage IV cam
SHR transmission with better clutches
'09 Challenger Limited slip rear diff
BCR coilovers
Hotchkis sway bars
Forged 6.1 shortblock (pulled the stock block at 102,000 miles)

The funny part was we supercharged the stock block up to 6.3psi at 56,000 miles and drove it until 102,000 miles. The tear down showed that the stock block was holding up fine, no excessive wear of any kind. Just didn't feel safe upping the boost to 9psi on a stock block.

Eh, I'm of the addage if you aren't breaking it, you aren't pushing it. I would've upped the boost and see if it held, if you blew it up, well it makes a good story anyways.

Glad to see you hauling ass in that tank of a car. Low 11's in something that big is straight flying.

Yes Jim but you missed the update. Someone at Chrysler heard us and suddenly Diablosport announced tuning is available. We know that Chrysler had to release it but no one is admitting it. Just glad the PCM is now unlocked. The mule that's being tested is rumored to be a 6.2L vs. the current 6.4L (392). Also rumored to be revised internals as in forged and beefier cylinder walls. So a stocker making 570hp and the right parts to allow much more + an 8 speed automatic. Should be fun.

Still like 'em to be honest. Doesn't look as it'll be in the cards though as the SRT8 just continues to please me. Did meet a Tuner/Fabricator who campaigns his CTS-V at the Rock. Saw him running very consistent 10.70's. Didn't have very nice things to say about the Caddy Forums though. He musta pissed somebody off or vice versa.

Probably someone from a certain startup that got banned for thinking they could open a tuning business and build it up overnight by crapping all over every vendor on the forums and threadjacking from day one. Had they played nice around here they'd probably have twice the business, but they thought the best way was to try and steal everyone else's customers within a matter of weeks. Oh well.

Definitely post back up when you break into the 10s- that will be awesome.

Drumstix, yup that was him. Car was running pretty stout I must say though. Very consistent, sounded just vicious and laid down 10 second pass after 10 second pass. MPH was very strong as well, very high 130's. As for my 10's, I should be posting Sunday AM - *knocks on wood*. We're running the T&T at Rockingham Friday night and then Mopars at the Rock Saturday. My bud's coming too with his Super Bee. Should see an 8 second pass out of his POS. LOL.

Wow.. this thread is swaying me...your 300 is INSANE!!

I am currently contemplating between a '06-'07 CTS-V vs. '08-'09 300C SRT8 vs. '07-'08 550i sport.

The one thing I disliked about the SRT-8 was the interior and 2008+ did get an upgrade and better fit/finish and the Nav/Mygig system is sweet.

With the way yours looks/sounds/performs.... you may have sold me! I just need to find a bone stock example so I can modify it my way.

CVP33
10-27-11, 08:30 PM
Yeah, gotta be honest the 2006 interior is for sh!t. Lot's of plastic. Mechanically though the cars are flawless. I'm extremely hard on cars and this one has been crazy reliable. To me if I was looking to do this again I'd do this:

Buy a used 300CSRT8 - $16K and ignore the mileage. I say ignore because of the following mods.
Add a Procharger at 8psi - $7K
Add a SHR built trans - $4K
Add a '09 LSD from Challenger - $2K
Add ported heads and cam - $2K
Add suspension (sways, braces, coilovers) - $1.5K
Total build $32.5K including car

Car should be good for right at 580 to 590rwhp and 11.20 in the quarter mile. The only other choice for me would be MUCH more expensive but possibly worth it to get a much upgraded offering.

Buy a used 2009 CTS-V - $45K
Go to Lingenfelter for the 700hp pkg. - $11K
Total build $56K including car

Don't know if the V is $24K better, but I know it will handle better stock and the interior is light years ahead of my '06. Being that my 300 is not my daily driver anymore and has become my dedicated track weapon of choice.........I can live with it's flaws, tolerate the interior and know that 98% of everything else that's daily driven just doesn't have a chance.

FINALLY!!! Knew it was going to be a good day as my last PB was in 80* weather with 800 DA. Today's DA when I arrived at the track was -700 and 48*. Couldn't wait. Don't think I've ever mounted up my drag radials so quickly in my life. Out of the gate with no ice or real cool down she runs:

11.023 @ 126.65mph. Lousy 60' of 1.734 as I eased her out of the hole.

Decided to sit for a bit and buy a couple bags of ice. Then the sun came out and the DA was climbing. -78 by the time I hit the line and 59*, but the car was nice and cool with the oil temp reading 110*. I did a quick burn out, M&H's set at 18psi. Launch felt very good, but she started to pull toward the right wall at 400'. I stayed in it (obviously) and knew it was good, but not this good.

60' - 1.668 (not my best but respectable)
330' - 4.629
1/8 - 7.083 @ 99.94mph
1,000' - 9.191
1/4 - 10.956 @ 127.81mph

I was/am stoked!!! Had a great time at the track and got to run with some great guys.

12 cars running 10's is not bad. The 2nd generation didn't come out until 2009 so the SRT8's have a 3 year head start. I'm sure we'll start seeing some V's get as fast as the SRT8's in the very near future. Right now we've got a couple in the 8's, probably 30 or so in the 9's and too many to count in the 10's (60+). The V's are a lighter car so it'll happen sooner than later. From what I've seen at the track, the intercooler seems to be the problem. Guys take a low 10 run and then sit icing in the pits for an hour or more before taking another run. Probably going to need to figure out a dual power adder like boost + nitrous. If someone can figure out the tuning it should be pretty straight forward. Afterall it's a lighter car and a more modern platform. It took us awhile to get these 4,440 pound pigs into the 8's and 9's.

My bud's CTS-V is on here and just hit high 10's. The sick part is he has maybe $6K into his ride vs. my SRT8 at ........ (well embarassing amounts of cash that should not be publicized). The good news for me is that I've now got a platform that can take a lot more power with relatively little more dough. The bad news is so has he. My next step will be a more efficient air to air intercooler and then up the boost from 9.5psi to 12psi. Should see just north of 700rwhp and maybe a high 9 if I'm very lucky. I know he'll be close on my heels as he's still running a stock cam, exhaust manifolds, etc.
