Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket dipstick to replace the stock version which i find hard to read with the brown plastic marks. Couldn't they have installed something a little better & more functional. After all this is a Cadillac !
This is a fairly common complaint. The answer is long, but to shorten it up the plastic darkens from being "cooked" in the engine oil.
I also got tired of trying to read the dipstick. My solution was to spray it with brake cleaner, then gently power wire brush it. Be careful to be gentle pushing it against the wire wheel, to much pressure will destroy the indexing marks.
It will leave the dipstick lighter in color and the oil holds on to the slightly roughened surface for easy reading.

Jeeezus people, just change it often. If it on the stick ..HOT! ya not worry.
Se the ADD mark. That yer ref! Don't over fill. Try 3k changes with filter also. Works fine. :)

If it's just discolored, why not replace it with a new one? They're only like $5 last time I checked...
