I am unable to locate the cooling fan relay as it shows in the service manual. 1989. I have put in new motors, and a new solid state controller... no help. Where is this relay anyway? Help!

Nope... that wasn't it, nor the one next to it. I finally located this elusive relay up under the metal lip behind the RH Headlamp assy, near the fuseable link box. Not easy to find, and even harder to work on. :banghead:

There are three fan relays located in the relay center under the hood on driver side. The puller fan (radiator side) is controlled by the PCM and relay B which is the first relay on the right side of the relay center counting from the front of the car (nearest driver side headlight).

If both fans come on when the A/C is in auto, but the puller fan does not start when A/C is in OFF or ECON, then chances are; relay B is not working or there is no power to the relay. Relay B is the only relay that runs the puller fan, any other time it is bypassed when the A/C is in auto.
