: The "Post a desktop screenshot" thread

An idea from the last computer thread. I'll start with a Windows screenshot. I'll post a Linux one tonight when I'm on it.

That's close to how I ran Vista. Except I can't get used to the taskbar on the side. I've tried it but it's so odd to me.

Guess that's what I get for being a regular windows user ever since I was... like 5? lol

drewsdeville

Yeah, it took a while for me as well.

I find it convenient as the Windows task bar got thicker with Vista/7 and widescreen computers became pretty much standard. To me, this utilizes the extra side space provided by widescreen resolutions and gives more vertical space for scrolling documents and webpages. I like my browser and apps to extend from the top of the screen to the bottom.

And no, I can't deal with autohiding the taskbar. Never could.

Stingroo
07-08-10, 06:01 PM
Auto hide is terrible. I learned to hate it in windows 98 when sometimes it just wouldn't work, and you had to click and drag the bar back up manually all the time to get back to the shit you wanted.

Since then, just couldn't use it. Bad memories. lol

I'll post some pics of my other desktops. Mine rotates, and I actually LIKE the Windows themes (I don't consider myself a "power user" or not your typical one, so I don't mind sacrificing a little performance for visual flair)

So how do you post a pic of your desktop, other than taking out the camera and taking a picture.:banghead:

Stingroo

Hit the "Print Screen" (or Prnt Scrn) button then paste the picture into paint, and upload to imageshack or photobucket.

Its an Asus K60I, bit beefier than a netbook. Screen is 15.9" I think, has a number pad on the keyboard, 500gb hard disk, intel pentium dual core. Awesome machine, but I mainly use it at home and don't lug it around a lot. Its a bit too big IMO for traveling. Battery life is OKAY, but could be better IMO.

Limewire can be perfectly safe if you exercise caution in what files you choose to download. Most of the bad files are titled with exact copies of your search query and are easy to spot. Others say '(GOOD COPY)' or '(NEW REMIX)' etc etc... Just dont fall for the traps and you'll be fine.

Well in any case, I recommend a good tracker site with a strong active community like http://www.demonoid.com/. The comments tell you exactly what you are getting and teh crap is quickly discovered and removed.

Jimmy, thanks I'll get to it later.
I have two 4:3 monitors in the shop that I got some Cadillac desktops on.
I like my picture to change and I was using the stuff that came with 7 but I got bored with it so I just put it on the blue thing.
My two at home are 16:9 and I have a 23 and a 32.
I'll mess with them someday, probably soon with nice pictures to choose from.

Chattanooga, TN. It's the Walnut Street Bridge, locally referred to as the Walking Bridge. It spans the Tennessee River, going from the North Shore district, over a section of Coolidge Park, to the art district. And I just learned from pulling it up on Wikipedia, that most of the parts for the bridge were manufactured by a company here in Dalton.
