Not sure if this is the correct place to post a question, feel free to move this post (or even delete it) if I'm out of line.

I've got a 1974 CJ5 that's in need of a replacement GM steering column - Cadillac came up as a possibility. With tilt and telescope, it became real interesting. Problem is, I'm looking for a 31" floor shift column without an air bag and I have zero Cadillac knowledge, so I' figured I'd come ask the experts!

What years/models would be a fit for what I'm looking for?

Definitely appreciate any help - even if it's just a general idea.

A person in my Auto Class was in to restoring the old CJ's. I believe he used the column out of a '75 Cadillac RWD, but said that almost any Cadillac column would have worked. Cadillac didn't make a car with a floor shifter, but you can just remove the shifter and cover the hole with a plastic collar. Once you find a usable column, someone on the Rear Wheel Drive Forum (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/rwd-19xx-1984-deville-fleetwood-1985/) could probably tell you how to remove the shifter.
