I wanted to wish the best too those who live in the path of Hurricane Frances. Looks like Florida is going to get hit hard again.

Praying for your safety,

Joe

Joe, you could possibly be in the path as well, so I'll echo your sentiments and send the same to anybody in the Southern U.S.

If this storm doesn't weaken to much across the FL panhandle, this could regather and nail the Gulf as well if it decides not to turn up the coast. Hurricane Andrew did this. It may not have hit the Gulf with the same ferocity but Frances is twice as big.

Whatever the case, FL might not be able to take the damge well and the Carolinas and Virginia cannot handle more rain.

Please take care.

Most of the New Orleans area is below sea level, and rely on pumps to pump it into surrounding waterways. So if any big storm comes I'm out of here.

I live in South West Florida and It is definitely a hairball storm. Thanks for your wishes. The people in Central Florida really need our prayers. Most of them lost everything. :(

I think it's going to be okay. The storm is now a weak Category 3. It might get down to a strong Category 2 before it his Florida. That being said, I was evacuated yesterday... Now I wish I stayed...

By the time it hits you Purple, it'll be a Cat 1. Dont worry. I'm in Orlando, and so far, not much damage. Though rather wet.

I can't wait for this damn hurricane to die. My last name is Francis, different spelling but I still have to here dumbass jokes. "Hey Francis, what do you have against Florida?", or everytime I enter a room "Look out for Hurricane Francis." I wish it was spelled the same, at least I could have kept the news paper headlines saying "Francis destroys Florida" or "Francis kills dozens" and tried to take credit for it.

Our electricity went out for 45 minutes, then came back on.. but the lower half of jacksonville (most of it) is still out, even now. I had two battery backups, one for the phone system (Runs off the internet) and then one big one for my wireless router, 5 port switch and cable modem. Kept on for the entire 45 mins and then some. Laptops are sweet.. thats all i can say. Did have one problem throughout this whole thing, though; our ceiling has a hairline crack that we noticed recently, and during the 'cane it dripped some water. Sucks because the house is brand new. The builders are set to come out soon. (under renters insurance and builder's warranty). It was our first hurricane in it though, and we're the first ones to live in it.. so ontop of some other small flaws (drains with the caps still on them, vents that make noise) it hasnt been too bad.

We had power out for a while actually. Probably 6-8 hours or so. Not too bad overall actually. Orlando

hey everyone! how did you all make out with the hurricane? any damage? my house was just fine, but my work is a mess! we have a dump and part of the building is gone, there are lines that are hanging, part of the fence is down as well and there is garbage all over the place. my trucks were fine though so thats a good thing. so today is clean up time i guess!

everything is fine here at work (New Port Richey) outside some down limbs and stuff like that . The lake I live by in land o lakes is 2 feet higher than normal , the damned dock is under water and we lost most of our banana trees , power was out 12 hours but we got it back and everything seems to be fine ....

Worst part is i still havent gotten to play with the chainsaw !!!!!

Aside from some shingles scattered around the yard, and a few small limbs that gave out, not much here. Oh yea, my front yard is under about an inch of water, but that's not too bad. Gonna pick my car up from its safe spot later.

well ask for "Cadillac Mike" (what they call me) when you come in , well do lunch or something so i can see that '85 .....

There are entirely too many mikes there and the one you probably deal in employer services with is one of my buds . Im one of the assiants in the Veterans section(cuz im a vet) but i end up all over that place giving people a hand ....

PurpleDeville

wouldnt that be weird if it was stonage you've been talking to the whole time? invite me to the wedding. :p

I bought my car in Holiday. few streets form the beach, a Mcdonalds.. has a porn shop right beside or pretty close to it. Purple lights .. "XXX" and maybe even a bowling ally?

Well, a few street lights are out still. City over (deltona) has no power in certain locations. Gas is sold out everywhere. I'm right off the I-4 Interstate might be why. cops are everywhere. never seen so many bad drivers on the road.
Fast food is backed up for miles. etc etc .. long weekend, im spent.

how about you?

Glad all you Floridians and your cars survived. I don't want to hear about any casualties. I guess that's the price you gotta pay for the sunshine sometimes. I'm getting to hate New England more with every passing year, but at least we're relatively free of those kind of severe weather catastrophies. It's just the stinking !@#$%%^&&* SNOW!!!!
