My brother and I decided to change it up a bit and head into city for some Vietnamese. Its nice out here in the suburbs, but the variety of restaurants is limited to burgers, pastas, and not much else. Anything remotely ethnic requires a 15-30 minute adventure.

So off we went to South Grand, near St Louis University.

The Saab just got the hood and a section of the passenger door repainted. Picked it up from the paint shop a little over week ago.

Went driving with doggy a few nights ago.

Sitting at a stoplight on South Grand, I heard a *splat* followed by another. A bird crapped on my car in three separate places. One on the carpet, one on the door panel, and another on the paint. It was all over my arms and some even got on my face. Not a very pleasant prequel to dinner.

Just a few seconds after being pooped on I heard a *THUD.* A lady in a silver Dodge Magnum rear-ended me. Wasn't a huge impact, but I definitely saw it and felt it.

I got out to assess the damage. The driver side of the rear bumper was pushed in but none of the metal was affected. Meanwhile, she was bleeding like a faucet. Apparently she closed her door on her finger which caused it to split open and drip everywhere. I handed her some shop towels that were in the trunk and took her contact information.

Passenger side of rear bumper. Looks normal.

Driver side of rear bumper. Bumper cover now touches the body.

When I got home I found blood on my feet and sandals.

http://www.q45.org/cpg/albums/userpics/10001/normal_IMG00094-20100703-2247.jpg
Gross.

I called her at dinner to check in and make sure she was okay. She joked, "This is God's way of punishing me for what I did." She left a pretty thick trail of blood all over the street.

I'm hoping I can just have my body guy use a clamp or something to force the bumper out.

The food at Pho Grand was REALLY good. $6.95 for a bowl of beef broth, rice noodles, and rare beef.

OMG...down near SLU you're lucky you weren't rear ended and pooped on in other ways and then carjacked to boot...

At least maybe she has insurance...

Good to know neither you nor Ducky were badly damaged. Stupid birds and their crap. When I got to the airport Sunday night, I went to put my bags in the trunk, and some bird had crapped all over Sabrina's trunk lid. Fortunately, I've started keeping a bottle of Meguire's Quik Detailer and a microfiber towel in the trunk, so I dispatched it immediately.

You have the worst luck Jesda. Have you ever owned a car that wasn't in some sort of collision? Good to hear you're OK though.

And it would really have sucked if that vietnamese place was terrible. All that trouble for nothing. :)

Glad you're OK, Jesda, but you obviously need to do some heavy work on your karma! The universe is apparantly very annoyed with you!

I think Jesda titled the thread as such just to set it up for the perfect joke.

Jesda, I just noticed that your STS was the only car in which you didn't get in an accident. I think that's god's way of saying you need a Cadillac.

LOL, well, my other STS, the '98, went airborne after Ian got cut off.

Well that was Ian's fault. Had you been driving, you would have been OK.

I think he still owes me money. I can never remember with him. Any business dealings are unnecessarily complicated.

I could pretty much call Ian a raging communist and he wouldn't notice. He's been neglecting the forum.

Jesda, I'm sure once you buy your Grand Cherokee Limited, stuff like this will stop happening, because there's not much out there scarier than an Asian behind the wheel of a large SUV.

So that explains Jesda's terrible vehicular luck. He's Asian and doesn't believe in karma.:p

He went off-roading with Rick, but only Rick returned. :hmm:

The sheer girth of the Navigator with my shiny face behind the wheel made people generous when it came to lane changes. The moment I hit the turn signal they backed off and gave me ten times the space I needed.

"I'd rather fall back than risk death at the hands of this SOB."

With the Saab, I get no respect. I think they'd rather I turned around and drove toward the city where all the dirty hippies and professors live.
