: Difference between 09 and 10

I am thinking about trading my Z06 in on a used CTS-V and just wondering what the differences are. Any recalls or bulletins are any model?

I found a modded LPE car here locally and the guy who traded it in just bought a 2010 model. Why would you do that besides being somebody who buys a new car every year?

thanks,
shannon

He may have gotten a better deal on the 2010 with the recent deals. 0% financing for 60 months. That and dealers are knocking some $$ off sticker.

True. There are stellar deals out there when you look.

The only differences between the 2009 and 2010 are:

Nav is standard

V and cts badges are reversed on the 2010

Changes in drivetrain warranty

No Rainsense wipers.

That's about it.

actually to me the 2010's are a downgrade...

no ambient footwell lighting

factory warranty covers alot less

no rainsense wipers

issue with not enough fluids from the factory...

The 2010 auto displays the gear number while in sport mode, I'm told. Alas, my 2009 does not.

thanks for all the replies.... Anybody know what was up with the TSB on the supercharger on some 09s

Do a search for isolator rattle. Some of the 09s experienced a rattle from the spring loaded isolator. Sounds like a marble in a can.

Easy fix. A swap from the spring loaded isolator to a solid one

If you are looking at an LPE V, the isolator has been changed from a spring loaded to a solid isolator, so no noise. You would hear this at idle.

Some of the common complaints on 09s which are hit or miss are

Rattle from sunroof
Squeaky driver seat
Low differential fluid or transmission fluid
isolator rattle
front wheel clicking when wheels are fully turned @ slow pace.

All of these are fixable with TSBs

You can review changes in models by looking here! Make sure you always have the correct vehicle in the upper right hand window.

GM bean counters in action, sighhh. This is one thing that got GM into trouble in the past. Just like the all new 2011 Regal, they have these really cool polished alluminum/chrome interior door pulls. Well, GM and Opel took them out of the rear doors and left them plastic instead (at least on the American versions). Door handles in the rear that are identical in shape yet different materials, VERY silly. What does GM save by this cost cutting, 15 bucks per handle?!?! Insignificant yet noticeable cheapness to the consumer. I am sure no one would balk if the price of the car was increased 30 bucks or even 100 bucks or more if it meant retaining a quality look and avoided that cost cutting cheapness.

I just picked up a 2010 so I am really interested to hear what the factory warranty does not cover on the 2010 but does on the 2009. Also, what does the ambient footwell lighting look like?

Thanks for your help!

Two more:

- Wood trim option available on all 2010's, but only on late build 2009's. Again, it is an option anyway.

- Leather/Suede inserts on door panels went from solid in 2009 to perforated to match the center part of the seats in 2010.

All subtle changes, and surprising for a first model year car, the 2009's have had very few issues. So if you find an '09 for a good price, and don't mind the lack of the wood trim option, I would pick it over a more expensive '10 without hesitating. And this is coming from someone who purchased a 2010 new.
