You need a legitimate FACTORY service manual. Like in the case of my Caprice, the manual covers sedans and wagons. Ebay doesn't have any right now from what I can tell, however.

I looked at my '70 shop manual and it has a part on how to replace the convertible top switch, so I'd assume that the regular shop manual should be the only one. I've never seen another version of it. Check ebay for them, that's where I got mine, this thing is priceless when you're working on the car yourself.

They are usually specific to the body style not options like convertible. The rest of the car is the same except for the roof and what makes it work.

The downloadable ones are generic ones, just like a Haynes manual. Most of them are scams, I'd stay away at all costs.

No, these manuals are put out by GM. They're the ones the technicians used before everything went digital. Like for example here's the one for my wagon:

The 1970 Cadillac factory service manual covers all Cadillac body styles produced for 1970, Deville convertibles included. Questions specifically about the body or top mechanism will likely be addressed in the 1970 Fisher Body manual, which covers all 1970 GM cars. Both are widely available on ebay as the original books or on CD-ROM.
