I'm looking for a Medallion. I found some on ebay. I really need a II, but I'm thinking about getting a VI because it's less expensive. Then it would look like I've been owning Caddies for years. lol Do you know of anywhere else to get the older medallions? I'll check craigslist too.

What about one that just says "Cadillac" on it. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180516604004&crlp=1_263602_263622&ff4=263602_263622&viewitem=&guid=880d18661230a02652d2eca2ffe0c303&rvr_id=&ua=W8F%3F&itemid=180516604004) That would leave it open to interpretation as to how many you've owned.

Or maybe the douche selling this grill (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270574322170&crlp=1_263602_263622&ff4=263602_263622&viewitem=&guid=880d18661230a02652d2eca2ffe0c303&rvr_id=&ua=W8F%3F&itemid=270574322170), would be willing to part with the the medallion, without you having to buy the grill. It's hard to tell, but it looks like a second car medallion.

Some of the cars at the junkyard near me have the grill medallions. Maybe the cars in your yard still have them. Next time I go I'll check for a two.

How nice does it need to be? I've got a "somewhat used" II and my number two car was crushed about five years ago. PM me if you don't need a perfect one, I'll send you pics.

I Want a Chrome one actually. The gold one I have was green when I got it and it came with a big chunk of grille too.

Ahh, good times.

You're not supposed to act on the "I gotta have it NOW" impulses. :thepan:

No, mine was one of the old gold ones. I really hate the new ones. It was just so tarnished it was a bright green hue. It was beautiful, but I wasn't building a rat rod, so I made it pretty and gold again.

Also, Matt, the only reason I figured I would get the chrome one is because I intend to give my car a bit of a facelift and deal with that front bumper (will get photos), while I am at it, I need to swap my front plate, one of the license plate bolts and may as well do something about that mismatched HOO emblem. The Gold ones look great on a lot of cars, but black and chrome never match gold and for that mater, I have seen a black Cadillac with ALL the chrome done in gold...damn was THAT ugly.

I must have work done on my car this Wednesday/Thursday/however long it will take, so my bumper modification will have to wait until at least then as I work every day between then and now, but it will get done. After that I need to call that windshield place to set up an appointment to get that dripping issue dealt with and then, sometime over the next 100 years, I will have to get a new engine and hopefully sand the car down and have her repainted and get new vinyl.:bonkers:

Oh, my bad Matt. I though by the "Gotta Have It Now" impulses you meant that I shouldn't be thinking of buying a chrome medallion.

No, the gold one with the chunk of grille was sent to me in the mail by someone who was scrapping a car. I suppose he couldn't figure out how to get it out. I was very puzzled when such a huge box came for me in the mail.

Hmmm

Now I want a #1 in chrome for my 76 Deville

It's not chrome, it's pewter. They were done in gold and pewter and it was my understanding that the Touring Sedans got the pewter ones, although some will disagree and tell you that it was the customers choice.

Either way, no chrome. The specialty ones like the 50th anniversary are also very nice.

eBay is the best source but you have to wait. Keep looking, set up alerts for new postings, keep looking.

I didn't think they looked particularly CHROME. The 50th anniversary one IS very nice, but then again, not owning a Deville I have no real reason to have one and we have that Black+Chrome thing going on that the gold will not match.

I was always told it was the customers choice and unless they specifically said they wanted the darker/pewter one they got gold.

Color changed to pewter in 97. After that all gold ones issued were left-over stock. Then in 2000 or 2001 GM changed the design to the weird oval thing with all the different shapes in it......supposedly they are made by hand & no two are alike.:jerkit:

Then my car's pewter medallion will be ten years out of place on her grille when I swap the gold one out for being mismatched. No worries, the gold hood ornament was swapped for a 1931 and I have never had to get into a blood feud about that.

I bought a gold I on ebay for about $5.00, but it didn't come with the mounting hardware. D'OH! Any ideas on how to put it on?

Sure, send me $5 and I'll send you a mounting kit.

I think that design change was in 2002 actually. My 01 came with the round badge in pewter.

My Pewter one arrived today, but I refuse to mount it just yet. I want to deal with that after the bumper, even though all I'd need to swap it with my gold one would be the general contents of my pockets. (kilt with pockets?)

Some of them have a bracket that clips onto the grille and some have a big ring that goes on the other side of the grille that goes between the plastic wing nut and the grille. So all you really need is a screw and something to put on the other side of the grille to screw it into.

I'll have to take another look at the back of mine.
