They were stock rockers. Blew out the bearings. Looking to upgrade with the comp trunion kit, or replace to adjustable roller rockers. The dyno shop is steering me to the trunion upgrade kit.

you sure something wsnt installed wrong, stock rockers are supposed to be some of the best stock rockers ever put on a car. Very few people even go with aftermarket ones because they dont have to.

I checked everything last night on the good 14 rockers. Everything seemed in line. I am still confused on how 2 would blow out. They are all coming off anyway, so I will torque them this time.

That's odd. Even at 6500 rpm, they are only stroking a little less than 7 times per second. Were these brand new?

No the originals with 41K miles on them. There was another LS1 Vette in the shop with the same issue. I just ordered the trunion upgrade kit from COMP. Should be here Monday. I will install on Tuesday and then make another appt for tune.

The stock rockers are indeed very good rockers - strong and lightweight, but they do have the one weakness, which is the tendency to lose bearings.

Although Comp Cams has recently come with a trunion upgrade, Harland Sharp has had an upgrade kit for years. Harland Sharp also has new OEM rockers with the trunion ungrade already installed. I think the excellent reputation of the stock rockers has actually been established in high performance applications with the trunion upgrade installed.

Guess who makes the Comp kit. :sneaky:

SOunds fishy....did they reinstall the ones on the vette too? Ive seriously never heard of the stock rockers giving out on a setup thats not insane.

wow man sorry to hear that.

Who did your build? you do it yourself or did a shop do everything ?

Stock rockers are know to be very good.

But in the end nothing else broke on the motor? right?

2 different places. The place I went to tune does work also. Just a coincidence. If you start looking into it, there are several that have had issues.

A local engine builder built the 383, basically to a long block. He has several years experience in Mopars, but not very much with LSx. I have learned a lesson.

The rocker bodies themselves are good to 1000hp. However the stock needle bearings are not. This upgrade kit from Comp/Harland Sharp takes care of that with a sealed bearing and retainer set-up.

I've been very happy with my Yella Terra Ultra-lites.

They are sealed as well, and each cylinder is mounted on it's own shaft, so while not as stable as a full shaft mount system, it is still better than the individually mounted ones.

They are suppoesed to have lower MOI than the stock rockers, for whatever that's worth.

People mocked me when I spent $4k for a cam upgrade, but it's been 45k miles, and still no problemts. I replaced all the crap that I heard about breaking, including the rockers.
