I have a 700r4 trans with a manual torque converter lockup mod, can I swap the 307 for a 350 or a 403 olds smallblock?

Sure! Follow along on the other thread where one of our members is swapping a 4100 for an Olds 350. Good pics for you. Don't forget, the 455 will bolt in too! :D

Yeah, resident crazyman greencadillacmatt (who does not own a green Cadillac, oddly enough...) is doing an Olds 350 swap in his Coupe DeVille. :)

The 700r4 doesn't have the BOP bell housing. It can only used with Chevrolet engines. The Oldsmobile engines are compatible with BOP transmissions (THM 200-4R, TH400, and the TH350). You can however use a Chevrolet 305 and 350 with that transmission. You can also use one of these BOP to Chevy transmission adapters (http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/60170/10002/-1?parentProductId=751074#moreDetails), and get away with using an Old's engine (but as far as I'm concerned it's just more things to go wrong).

I think the 403 with the 700 would be a good combo for overall driveability.

^I second that. Nice and torquey for hauling the car around without the fear of the trans ker-sploding.

Yes a 'drop in ' but as above , you will need the adaptor for the 700 trans.
350 parts seem easy to get .

But if he has a 307 car, he already has the 200-4R, not the 700R4. Generaltso, do you mean you have an extra 700 ready to go in?

^ Yeah, he mentioned it in his other thread.
