OK so I am about to hit 50k on the odometer. I am going to have my mechanic start changing out fluids. First up is the tranny.....Then the transfer case. What other fluids should I change? and what types of fluids?

Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know off the top of their heads the fluid types for each? To save me the trouble of having to find it all. I would greatly appreciate it.

Transmission is Dextron VI
Front diff is synthetic 75w-90
transfercase is either Dextron VI or manual trans fluid with slip additive depending on year mine is 07 and it took the manual 08 and up take Dextron VI
rear diff is synthetic 75w-90

I used royal purple in my front and rear diff, only because they didnt have mobil one syn, so they gave it to me at the same price.

Amsoil, Red Line or Royal Purple all rated the best, Mobil 1 rated very good, you can find these at many auto stores and speed shops. :)

Awesome thank you... mine is an 07 does it matter if I use the Dextron vs manual trans fluid? will the manual tell me?

Yes I recommend the factory fluids. here is what you need I just did mine.

Transfer case Holds 1.5 quarts GM Part No. 12378508

Front and Rear Axle: SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Axle Lubricant (GM Part No. U.S. 89021677) Front held 2 quarts the rear held 2.5 quarts.

The Trans uses Dexron 6, I am going to let the dealer flush mine so I did not do this one.

Hope this helps. I know other oil companys make there own oils and people swear by them. I am a Moblie 1 die hard user, but I figure for my Caddy why not use the factory oils for it? yes I use Mobile one in the engine but for the brakes, oil filters, air filters, Plugs, fluids....ect it is all GM!!!

If you have the 07 like me use the manual transmission fluid, i would not use the dextron, The manual says to use Manual trans with slip additive

The 2007 service manual calls for Dexron VI only

We did the transmission filter change and flushed the system with the dex VI. I will do the rest of the fluids shortly.
