I have owned my 2010 Escalade for 3 months. Today, when I pulled they vehicle out of the garage I noticed an oil spot the size of a silver dollar on the floor. The spot seemed to blend nice with all those from my 07 STS. I crawled under the vehicle and noticed only the bottom of the pan appeared wet. Has anyone heard of bad drain plugs on this vehicle?
No, but both of my 10' were dripping oil from the oil filter because they were NOT TIGHT, cleaner the filters and tightened them and they are leak free, just in time to change the oil.
Yes it would and your filter will probably be wet too. I'd get that checked asap, your filter is a place where you do NOT want a leak! If it gets too loose, you will drop major oil pressure and blow your engine. I'd just replace the filter with a new one while your under there...
you are correct about the oil filter. I like to view the undercarriage whether there is a leaak or not. I notice that the filter was wet, the oil pan was wet and surrounding areas. after the dealer tightened the filter, it was gone. I told them to clean it also, so I can take notice if it becomes wet.
Thanks for the advice, it was the filter. I took my vehicle to the local Chevrolet dealer (Caddy dealer was too much of a pain to deal with) they had me in and out in less than a 1/2 hour and replaced the filter. The Cadillac dealer wanted me to leave the vehicle and they were going to put dye in it.
They are just making sure it's not leaking from a seal, but it seems to be a filter issue
