Just received notice 8/27. I'm not real mechanical but it sounds like they used the wrong bolts and any of the four wheels could collapse. If anyone could further explain the problem further and if this should be addressed immediately. Thanks-Journey

If its a recall then you should take care of it sometime soon, they dont do recalls for bs.

This recall has been around for a while now, Cadillac just decided to "join" the XLR into the process. My service writer called me two weeks ago and informed me before the letter hit my mailbox. He wanted me to know he had already ordered the parts needed for the fix.

Photos of my car are listed in the registry thread at the top of this forum. Two shots, one when it was new with the the "Courtesy Chevrolet" flasher and the second one with the new personalized plate. Both taken in Carmel, CA.

We received the recall notice and had the car fixed at Gold Coast in Oakhurst, New Jersey. Quess what loaner they gave us to use, a chevy aveo, i didn't know they make such terrible cars. It makes a geo metro look deluxe. It also took more than a day to fix and install the bolts on the xlr, but only 2 hours to fix the same problem on our cts. This is the second recall we have had on this xlr. We also will no longer deal with Gold Coast and I intend to complaim about them to anyone that will listen. They have a message on the phone service while your on hold claiming how important you are and that they have 100 loaner cars for their customers. I also am having trouble with the tires. They don't hold their pressure, then Gerry hit a very small pothole and both tires on the right side of the car bubbled out. They have to be replaced at a cost of 830.00 plus tax. Can you beleive these tires are so delicate. I checked on recalls and Michelin Pilot tires seem to have a problem with sidewalls. ( not this model, i think this is a new tire) We only have 8000 miles on these tires. It wasn't that bad a pothole. On the east coast, pot holes are all over and you will hit them from time to time, I never had a sidewall pop so easy, and at the cost of these tires you would expect more. The cts has hit a pot hole and those tires are fine.

WAIT ! you gave well over 75k for a car and when it is in for service you get a chevy aveo ????????Yet others here take in a 03 CTS and get a new deville for a loaner !!!!Hell we took the maxx in and got a trailbalzer as a loaner , i mean the trailblazer had to be worth 9k more than our maxx .....

your getting screwed dude ! WHAT A CROCK !!!

Sorry i own a 10 year old deville and dont normally post here , but i love the XLR so much i even went to bowling green to watch them being born .....to think your treated like that is beyond me !

The recall has to do with the wrong type of metal used on the captured washer of the nuts that hold the knuckle to the lower control arm. The washers could break, causing looseness and possibly wallow out the knuckle. The XLR takes a long time because you have to do all 4 wheels, versus just the front ones like the CTS and SRX. I found a shorter way to replace them which does NOT require removing the rear axles as suggested in the bulletin. And you should definitely get a Deville loaner for your XLR!

Hey, I to was told that because I was buying the top of the line I would be the only one getting a caddy as a loaner. Did you ever see a caddy look like a buick? The'll tell you anything to sell you a car.
