I'm getting a message, service ride control on my 1994 seville. Does anyone know what that means?

It can mean a number of different things. To properly diagnose, we will need a listing and translation of any codes stored in the computer. The codes will indicate what's wrong with the ride control system. If you search the forum for "retrieve codes" or "codes warmer," you should get any number of links to posts that include instructions for displaying the codes on the Driver Information Center under the speedo/tach (or wherever it may be on your particular model). Once you have the codes, read the first post in this forum, the sticky post about "Northstar Error Codes." Go to the web site in that post and cross-reference your codes against that site. Post the codes and their translations here and someone will probably be able to tell you what's going on and what to do about it.

Hi,
the code I'm getting is so73. It says Right Rear Accelerometer Fault. Any idea what that is?

Now we're getting somewhere... I found this post which may help:

The location of the right rear accelerometer will depend on the model and year of your car. I seem to remember something about it being under the passenger seat, and the thread in the link above would seem to confirm that, but I don't know if either suggestion should really be taken as gospel. Maybe while you're waiting for another, more knowledgeable member to reply with a definitive answer, take a look under the passenger seat. An accelerometer should be a fairly small box with maybe a 2- or 3-wire harness connected to it. It probably won't jump out at you or be labeled as an accelerometer. Make sure it's plugged in, the wiring is in good condition, etc. Accelerometers can go bad, so it may need replacement, but be sure to check out the wiring thoroughly before you go spending money on a new box.

I can't find any reference to it in the Helm manual for my '96 SLS. Maybe someone with manuals for a '94 can chime in here. You could also get a subscription to a diagnostic information service such as www.alldatadiy.com (that's the only one I know of) that may show you where it is and how to diagnose the system.

Let us know how you're progressing with this. Your feedback will help someone else one day.

Good luck...

Funny, I replaced that exact one it on my 93 Eldo earlier this year!

On my Eldo it was on the rear subframe near the wheel but on the inside side and facing towards the left side of the car. It is a black metal can about 1.5" cube. Has a cable coming out of the bottom which has a connector plugged into the subframe harness. I think it has 4 pin connector. It is atached to the subframe by a metal metal holder with little rails which hold it in place. There is an exact one in the same spot on the left side too.

Mine rusted and the moisture got inside! It is very expensive little box (around $400) !!

If you had the Factory Service Manual, it shows you exactly where to look for it.
It also gives you troubleshooting chart, as there could be other causes of that error. You could also have bad wiring or bad computer module...
