My 2005 SRX will arrive in late October. Quick question. I use a Radar detector in my current SAAB. I like the fact that the ac plug shuts off power when car turns off (in other words I don't have to unplug radar detector). First of all, does the SRX ac socket shut off when you turn car off? Also where are the ac sockets located? My wifes Grand Prix has it in the center console and the radar detector's chord is almost not long enough.

AC plugs are a short point of this car! The AC plug is in the folding door where the ash tray would be....in the center of the dash...so this must be left open to plug something in. I don't even like plugging my cell phone in here. But the plug stays hot when car is off.
There are two ac plugs below my rear entertainment center...not sure if these stay hot.

Best to tap directly into a 12V source switched to the ignition. Do a search on the ways to do this.

I've got mine wired to the hot side of the rear wiper switch (which is located in the overhead panel above the rearview mirror). On with key--off with key.

Got the tip from these forums--do a search.

Caution!! The panel comes off quite easily (straight down), but, as it is a plastic clip, it wouldn't stay back up! Tried everything--no go! Finally, before I ordered another panel, I used JB Weld on the plastic part--clamped it up--and after 1/2 hour it was tight as can be. However, if I ever have to get up there again---I'm SCRE...ED! :banghead:

If you want the lighter hot all the time, go to the underhood fuse center and find the fuse for the lighter. You will notice that the fuse receptical for the lighter has 3 connections, but the fuse only uses two. Move the fuse to the other two holes, and the lighter becomes hot all the time.
