Well I still have yet to get around to having the exhaust problems fixed on that 95 fleetwood brougham I bought from Jim...

Was wondering if there are any good performance options available and what would you suggest? I'm getting pretty annoyed with the muffler's flapping/popping sound so I'd like to replace it as soon as possible.

Any suggestions are welcome. Links are appreciated. :)

You have an LT1 engine which means there're many mods available and being a '95 you have OBD 1 again that will make tuning the PCM easier . So far I have only had my PCM tuned up and even this alone made a big difference . :bouncy:
You can contact 96Fleetwood he knows how to tune up profoundly if you like to turn your ride into a sports car in tuxedo ;)

PCM4less does a huge number of tunes for the Impala/Caprice crowd. Clear Image has Tri-Y headers that fit. There are three inch exhausts available, "X" pipes, all sorts of mufflers... You can also delete the AIR pump and related plumbing without setting off any codes.

I've gone to a RAISS type filter system, knocked off the mufflers and am on cats and resonators and am in the process of deleting the pump. After that comes the headers and 3 inch exhaust, Mallory Opti-spark, 52mm throttle body, some 3.43 gears and an Auburn posi and rear disc conversion...

A low 13 second car is doable with bolt on mods and no sacrifice in fuel economy.

Can you post a sound clip? I was seriously thinking about doing the same thing. I personally think trucks running open headers sound horrible but with the cats and resonators It might be ok.

Thanks for the info. I'm really just looking for a decent muffler replacement because the mufflers are bad on this car. All I can find locally are cherry bomb glasspacks which I'm not sure would sound right for this car.

Anyone know what kind of mufflers would fit right in place and sound decent/flow decent?

Go with something like a Super Turbo. They have dirt cheap Turbos at Summit. Mellow sound, not harsh like a Flowmaster, or loud like a glasspack. I did muffler delete on my 9C1, and it was stupid loud. You don't want to do that on a Caddy.

But stupid loud is fun! :D

I had the Clear Image Automotive shorty headers, export pipes, and Borla cat-back exhaust for the Impala SS on my Fleetwood. It kept a classy and deep sound. Any aftermarket cat-back for the Impala SS will work, the shop just has to add a few inches of pipe.

Here is mine on the dyno:

On the other side of the spectrum... here is my '95 Roadmaster wagon with Borla mid pipes and Flowmaster 40 series mufflers with no resonators:

Dirt cheap is cheaply made. A Flow Master or SpinTech with the cats and resonators in place stays nice and mellow.

Deleting my mufflers changed nothing at idle and only gave a nice rumble under light acceleration. Now balls out it's loud, and when decelerating from same it has a slight crackle but I don't stick my foot in it that much so it's ok. Definitely nothing I'd call loud under normal(non-cop-attracting) driving..

Not certain I can post a sound clip but I'll see what digital nightmares I've got here to try and record something with...

Well I finally got tired of the muffler knocking around so I went to Napa and just bought some cheapo mufflers with the OEM design/direct fit.

Went to put them on and guess what...someone had WELDED the mufflers on! OH NO! so when I went to my girlfriend's dad's house this weekend I had him cut the old muffler off with a torch and then I just put the new muffler on. Sounds pretty good. Still a slight exhaust leak, but I actually like the sound of the exhaust leak. Makes it sound a little mean :)
