Hi Everyone,

I had a 6 months hiatus installing a replacement front cylinder head in my 99 STS and just found some time to start the project back up two weeks ago (engine-in-car)...

I found a tube coming out the top of the transmission that doesn't do anything while tightening down the crossover bolts that I had to loosen to squeeze in a new front head to water crossover gasket.

The tube is pictured below, with a metallic plug at the end and a plastic clip/bracket around the metallic plug. Is this how it's supposed to be?

THANKS!!!

That's the transmission vent. The metal cap wiggles - it's a vent - clips right there at the throttle cable bracket - so it pretty much sticks straight up from the transmission case. If the plastic clip is broken, use a black wire tie.

Look real hard in this pic...........click to enlarge. Just to the right of the top run of the purge line, next to the throttle cables.

Wow. Thank you submariner409! I even looked through the FSM and couldn't find it!

Looks like you capped off the airbox resonator - how do you like it?

Thanks again for your help! Have a great weekend!
