I need a little advise. Im in the process of building a 1983 Cadillac Coupe De Ville with a built Cadillac 500. I hear alot about Impala SS springs. I need some better handling suspension for my car. I need to know the performance outcome of Impala springs, and does it keep the stock ride height or is it changed. Any info on performance suspension would help me greatly....thanks.

I'm fairly sure that Impala SS springs only apply to the later model D bodys, the 93-96 Fleetwoods. With your car, it might be worth looking for an earlier Caprice (the boxy style) with the 9C1 option listed on the Service Parts Identification sticker. Those cars had the police package, and were generally outfitted with heavy duty suspension components. The rear sway bar is a very substansal upgrade from what I hear.

The Caprice frame is also used in some circle track applications around here. I think they put Caddy spindles on them too. I think they make all sorts of tubular a-frames and what not. Race car parts would work.
