I have a 1995 Eldorado, it cranks, no start, it has spark. If I spray some starting fluid in it, it starts right up and runs great until i park it and try to start it again. sometimes it will start 2 or 3 times, then the next time just cranks and cranks, until I hit it with the starting fluid. any ideas? Cam sensor, ICM????
Thanks, Alan

Neither, I think. Maybe the theft deterrent system. Pull the codes.

OK, I will pull the codes in the morning, all I looked for was the P codes. What letter will I be looking for to check the antitheft? I also have a service engine soon alert!

I don't think it is fuel pressure because once I start it it with the starting fluid it runs fine. I am stumped.

well that just about takes care of that.....one of the main suggestions is fuel pressure and you have had a fuel pump code.....

check the fuel pressure now already LOL

Sounds like the pump is intermittent. If it starts and runs with starting fluid I'd suspect the relay maybe.

I had same code & symptoms.
Verdict: Drop tank, replace sending unit/pump. You can chance just changing the sending unit.. Dropping the tank is lame though.

You may have some pressure, not enough to start but enough to run, or you may have and old pump that does not start every time. I'm betting option 1.

And yes, I have seen that before.

I had this problem a month ago, and it was because my cooling fans were straight-wired to my fuel pump relay. Needless to say, it shorted the relay. I didn't find it until AFTER I had already replaced the fuel pump and it still didn't crank...
