: 08 Escalade: What to look for?

Cross shopping Merc GL, Yukon Denali, and Escalade.

Doing some searches, it appears there are strut leaks and door rattles.

What are common issues with an 08?
Are there any significant updates for 09?
Does the 08 have bluetooth?

What does the maintenance cost for an Escalade? What are the service intervals? How much is an oil change?

I'm used to BMW which has all maintenance included. And out of warranty they get expensive. What costs (other than tires) do you need for an escalade up to 100k miles/

Wind noise from side door seals
Engine cold start knock (around 1800-2000 RPM under light load for about a minute after a cold start)
Frame wax peeling off with rust underneath
Chrome wheel peeling
Suspension air compressor failing (Service Suspension message in DIC)
Power steering pump reservoir rusting
Driver's seat lower cushion losing shape
Transmission shift flare (2-3 gear under light accel)
Inside door handle chrome peeling at the flash line on top
Outside door handle breaking
Transfer case whining under light load around 40MPH

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Cheap to maintain, easy oil change (I do it myself w/synth oil), average 10k between changes per oil life monitor, my tires and brakes will last 100k (lots of highway driving, tires rotated F-R every 10k). I changed diff, t-case & trans fluids at 50k (refilled w/synthetics, trans is already $7/qt Dexron 6 synthetic). No fuel filter at all! No tune-up items for the first 100k.

No bluetooth on 08. There is a change list here somewhere for the 09s but they aren't much different.

I forgot...belts at 50k, replaced air filter at 40k (but didn't need to per filter minder on airbox).

Yep, I love the Escalade because its so easy to maintain! Diffs, spark plugs, air filter, transmission fluid, mobil 1 oil, belts, virtually all service is done by me.

My 07 has wind noise, rattles (LOTS), trans flares. But besides that, its a good truck.

How do you get rid of transmission flares? I already took it in to update all the computers, but it still flares.

I have had 7 Escalade's since 2007 and had slight wind noise in a few, but none of these other issues. :)
