I saw this on one of the One Lap of America participant's blog this morning. Does anyone know who this was and was it one of our forum brothers?
http://onelapforlife.blogspot.com/

"Today was a day of serious attrition. There were numerous cars that had mechanical failures and one with a serious off. The off story is one I will keep very brief. The car was (yes, "was") a Cadillac CTS-V that had a small encounter with a tire wall that caused just enough damage to make the car toast for the remainder of the 2010 One Lap. Driver is fine and in fact has moved on to the purchase of a Dodge Crossfire from a local dealer. He will continue the One Lap as a "participant" and we look forward to seeing the team at MAM."

What I can gather from this this (http://evergreen1lap.blogspot.com/), this (http://www.motortrend.com/one_lap_of_america/112_2009_one_lap_2009_cadillac_ctsv_howard_lafever _mark_grzella/index.html) and this (http://www.onelapofamerica.com/entrantsList.jsp?eventID=29&currentYear=true), my guess would be Howard LaFever?

If the airbags didn't blow (probably did) in the Recaros, I have dibs when they go up for auction! Wonder why his brakes so badly as to have caused this?

He's a One Lap veteran and was a hopeful to win the Luxury Class last year with a V2. Not sure how that turned out, but what a disaster this year. Glad to read he's okay (what a trooper!).

So sad to see the loss of a V. So great that the driver walked away from a rollover crash and was well enough to buy a new car three hours later. Goes to show you that Cadillac engineered these cars for safety. Makes me feel a little safer driving mine.

Btw. there's a picture of the car here: http://car-buying-advice.org/?p=3589

A black Cadillac CTS-V, piloted by Howard LaFever, touches the gravel trap, but briefly. The car ends up upside-down on the other side of the catch fence and cement barrier. Reports are conflicting -- LaFever allegedly claims no brakes -- but the recipe is obvious: The CTS-V is approaching turn 12, a sharp left, at over 100 mph. It doesn't slow. The car turns, presumably the driver's effort to make the turn, and skips across the gravel trap before going airborne and flipping onto its roof. The damage looks terrifying, but LaFever walks away with just a cut on his finger.

I was at one lap at MAM yesterday and was looking for the V til i heard this story.

I was told the brakes were good at canada corner with no brake pedal fade but they just would not stop the stop at all, driver didnt want a front straight impact into the tire barrier and went into the sand sideways and it flipped over the tire barrier.

Again: He slid, then flipped, initially at over 100 mph, and he SURVIVED WITH ONLY A CUT ON HIS FINGER.

I smell a marketing opportunity....."The 2011 Cadillac CTS-V......5 star safety all around....just in case you go into a corner too hot."

Me too! My airbags didn't go off. Still walked.

One Lap of America looks sick. I have to get on that next year.
