On the whole, I think the SRX is one of the finest vehicles on the road. It delivers an amazing ride (magnetic ride control and an outstanding engine - V8 Northstar) with unmatched interior comfort.

A few observations and questions:

1) Battery - Has anyone had problems with their battery dying? I was told by roadside assistance that they know about the problem (the dome light/dash dimmer), but don't have a real fix yet. They told me to put the dimmer in the middle position to prevent the computer from mistakenly reading that the dome lights were on. So far, it hasn't worked for me... it's in the shop for the second time today. FYI -- AN UPDATE>>> JUST GOT A CALL BACK - THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD CELL IN THE BATTERY. BATTERY PROBLEM RESOLVED.

2) Accessories/Aftermarket – I believe Cadillac/GM should require that when any new car hits the showroom that the supporting accessories and aftermarket information be ready and available. I went to the website where GM lists aftermarket information - www.gmaccessorieszone.com - and there is no brochure or information listed for the SRX. I wrote them and they responded that they did not know when it will be up and for those vehicles listed the most recent model year is 2003. I was looking for information on pet dividers and roof racks.

3) XM – many of the vehicles in 2004 didn’t have XM installed as an option. I asked the dealer if they could install XM into my car and have it integrated into the DVD/Nav/Bose system. They said it wasn't possible, but they could install XM for $400. Does anyone have recommendations on how and where to install the Delphi version of XM? I saw the post of how to install the XM Roady (which was done expertly), but nothing on the other version.

My two cents for whatever it’s worth. On the whole, I am very impressed and very pleased with this vehicle.

I'm am (actually my wife is) a new SRX V6 leasee. Took an 04 over an 05 due to a phenominal deal. Unfortunatly no hitch or XM like we originally wanted. We've got the hitch thing worked out with hitchweb.com but this XM thing is going to be a royal pain. We have the 1SB package's standard 6 CD setup and really don't want to go the modulator route.

We did find an PIE adatpter package myradiostore.com (http://www.myradiostore.us/bundles/car/gm-xm-bundle.html). I have a call in to their tech support to see if the SRX is supported. The Escalade is but that is a different radio.

I'll update the thread as soon as I know.

Recently I noticed the dome lite was on after the SRX was left in the garage overnight. No one had turned it on and several days later the battery was all but dead needing a jump to start car. Off to dealer to see if they can figure the problem. Has anyone opened the door to hear the CD player changing disks w/o key on etc? Maybe another one of the electrical issues we are experiencing. Stay tuned as we try to find the cause...

Were both lights above the windshield on or just one? I found the passenger side on and feel certain I had not turned it on. I have had the changing disks noise as well. A search should find some other posts re the problem. Several weeks ago I ejected some disks, reloaded and it was fine. Fine until yesterday. I opened the door and the disk noise was there. Feel the disk noise may be part of a display problem. In June/July the mileage readouts A & B were resetting to zero on their own. We were returning from a 1,000+ mile trip yesterday and I intended to leave the A mileage for the total trip and both had reset to zero. Will now talk to the dealer re these problems and the power outlets not working properly when fuses are moved per the manual so the power outlets will shutdown 10 minutes after the key is turned off.
