On the whole, I think the SRX is one of the finest vehicles on the road. It delivers an amazing ride (magnetic ride control and an outstanding engine - V8 Northstar) with unmatched interior comfort.
A few observations and questions:
1) Battery - Has anyone had problems with their battery dying? I was told by roadside assistance that they know about the problem (the dome light/dash dimmer), but don't have a real fix yet. They told me to put the dimmer in the middle position to prevent the computer from mistakenly reading that the dome lights were on. So far, it hasn't worked for me... it's in the shop for the second time today. FYI -- AN UPDATE>>> JUST GOT A CALL BACK - THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD CELL IN THE BATTERY. BATTERY PROBLEM RESOLVED.
2) Accessories/Aftermarket – I believe Cadillac/GM should require that when any new car hits the showroom that the supporting accessories and aftermarket information be ready and available. I went to the website where GM lists aftermarket information - www.gmaccessorieszone.com - and there is no brochure or information listed for the SRX. I wrote them and they responded that they did not know when it will be up and for those vehicles listed the most recent model year is 2003. I was looking for information on pet dividers and roof racks.
3) XM – many of the vehicles in 2004 didn’t have XM installed as an option. I asked the dealer if they could install XM into my car and have it integrated into the DVD/Nav/Bose system. They said it wasn't possible, but they could install XM for $400. Does anyone have recommendations on how and where to install the Delphi version of XM? I saw the post of how to install the XM Roady (which was done expertly), but nothing on the other version.
My two cents for whatever it’s worth. On the whole, I am very impressed and very pleased with this vehicle.
