: Your personal car collection, 5 cars only

If you were buliding a personal car collection, but it was limited to five cars, what specific cars would it include?

My own collection would include an Alfa Romeo 164S (1991-95), an Alfa Romeo 1600 Giuliua Spider (1967), a Lincoln Continental Mark II (1956-7), a Jaguar XK !50S Drophead (1959-60) and a 1953 Buick Roadmaster Woody.

Of course, I would have my 1995 Seville STS as my DD.

My 94 Seville STS, Some sort of BMW M3 or M5, Second Gen CTS-V, Buick Regal GNX, and a 1973 Chevy stepside truck with a cummins in it.

Well, I assume Betty counts as one. So my other four would be a second-generation CTS, a C6 Corvette, a '65 Riviera GS and a '64 Eldorado (I need a convertible).

Oh man..... I love these threads, but 5 is tough.

Cruiser:
1972 Lincoln Continental Mark IV or 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V Collector's Edition. Not sure which one I like more... the IV has a better exterior design and comes with a 460 (the '79 Lincolns only had the WEAK 159hp 400), but the V drives much tighter, and the Collector's edition was offered in navy blue, inside and out, and had a center console and a whole lot of rare other features. I'm sure if I ever got that '79 Collector's Series, it would not keep the 400.

'79 Mark V Collector's Series
http://automotivemileposts.com/files/mark51979csmidnightblue.jpg

Truck:
1975 GMC Sierra "Gentleman Jim". The 1973-87 GM trucks had a classic style that was never bested, and the Gentleman Jim was a one year special luxury/sporty edition that featured bucket seats & console, an awesome gold & black paint scheme and one of the coolest, most masculine names ever fitted to a truck. They only were offered with a 350, but I'd probably find a way to have a fuel injected big block or modern diesel installed.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2623/4036956994_709c685359.jpg

Luxury Sedan:
1999 Mercedes Benz S500 Grand Edition. My favorite luxury sedan of all time, offered in it's final "collector's edition". The Grand models had the S600's interior, with the two toned nappa leather seats, leather covered dash and wood/leather steering wheel, and they had the beautiful monoblock 5 spoke wheels, and while it wasn't as quite as fast as the 600, it was far simpler and easier to live with.

Muscle Car:
1996-97 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 SS Coupe. Ever since I was a child, I've loved 4th gen F-Bodies. I like the LT1 models more, because even though they weren't as quick as the LS1 models, they were better looking and almost as fast. The LS1 models, to me, have a fish face with that smoothed over grille and concave headlights. I've driven a real nice low mile '95 Z28 coupe and it was the most fun car I've ever driven. It had a cool aggressive, juvenile feel, was extremely fast, handled great and got lots of looks from the opposite sex.
This is a great example of a clean, low mileage one, just not this godawful color.

Sports Sedan:
2010 Cadillac CTS-V. The fastest, finest & one of the best looking sports sedans America has ever made. Truly awesome in all respects. This would be my daily driver, only because it's the newest and finding replacement parts would be easiest.

I've already got two of my faves, so that leaves three (I'm assuming DDs don't count). In no particular order:

1972 Eldorado Convertible

1958 Fleetwood Sixty Special

1949 Buick Roadmaster Riviera

Now, where to house them all (to say nothing of maintenance and insurance!)?

1991 Cadillac Brougham D'Elegance- I'd have it restored. Probably put a nasty, modern LS3 V8 or something under the hood. You can build a turbocharged stroker motor with 500whp+ and stock street manners, working a/c, etc

1968 Coupe Deville convertible- Just a knockout design, love the forward canted hood and bulging rear fenders. This would have a worked over 500cu Cadillac motor under the hood

2010 Dodge Ram with the Cummins- Got to have a truck/daily driver. The Cummins is such a simple, elegant, and easy to work on design compared to a V8 Powerstroke or a Duramax.

1963 Corvette split window coupe- One year only design, and the technology for 1963 is pretty damn impressive: IRS, 4 wheel disk brakes, fuel injection, etc

1990 Mazda Miata with a V8 Gotta have a track toy, and well you just don't get any more awesome than a V8 Miata IMO.

A diesel, easy to work on? Never heard that before. Although I love everything else about the Silverado/Sierra more the Cummins is just such a stout motor.

Go pop the hood on a Dodge truck. The cummins is an I-6, so its easy to acess parts one either side of the motor, lots of room under the hood. Not to mention the simplicity of one cylinder head, one exhaust manifold, one turbo mounted right next to the exhaust manifold, one camshaft, etc

And generally, the Cummins has the best reliability and durability record of the three diesels, especially over the powerjoke!

1990 Ford Mustang ascMcLaren 2-Seat Roadster (Final unit made)
1990 Ford Mustang ascMcLaren 2-Seat Roadster ( 25th Anniversary Edition) Celebrating 25 years of American Sun Roof Corporation's American Speciality Cars Division.
1993 Cadillac Sixty Special; a "1 Off" ~ Only unit made with WHITE leather interior, that was not a White, Red OR Blue exterior.
1975 Imperial LeBaron Crown Coupe w/Sun Roof + every possible option. The largest American Car in length, width and weight (X-cept for Limos) ever made.

If I could add 1 more it would be a fianl year Thunderbird (2004??)

I would have the following:

1. My 75 Cadillac of Course
2. 1969 Dodge Charger R/T B-5 blue with a White top, interior and Stripe.
3. 1997 Ford F-350 XLT Powerstroke Diesel Crew cab long bed (this was the last real Truck IMO) either White/Dark Grey two-tone or bright blue.
4. 1995 Impala SS, Dark Green Grey Metallic, with an LS engine, a Z-28 cluster and a T-56.
5. 1960 Cadillac Convertible for my Cruising pleasure.

I would also like a Pre war car but I was limited to 5 and I couldn’t pick a Perfect Pre-war car, so I will go with this.

John, you mean a '96 SS? Floor shifter FTW. :)

Nope, I like 95’s better, No Dex cool, and OBD 1 with real gauges. The 96 gets a tach and a floor shifter, but you lose all your real gauges (even though I would swap a z-28 cluster in so I have real gauges and a tach, also easier to swap in a 95 than a 96). Plus I noted I would have a T-56 so that means a Floor shifter. Even if it was an auto, doing a floor shifter swap is easy as pie.

I used to own a 95 DGGM impala and I kick myself everyday for selling it.
