: Twin Turbo Escalade

Well, I just bought my Escalade and I am just about to throw a few turbos on it. I know many on this forum are not into the performance end of things, but I am sure there are a few of you out there. It sucks because I don't see any turbo kits for these vehicles so I will be going the custom route.

For any interested, I'll keep you posted on the progress, which should start in about two weeks. The goal is 650-700rwhp. I have done this on several different rides over the years, but would welcome any input as I go.

My neighbor supercharged (centrafugal SP?) his 6.0 H2. With that mild of a setup he went through 2 transmissions before he sold the car. I would check the current transmission to see if it can take the extra HP & TQ..

I think the only "kit" is a maggie right now. Although if you search on YouTube there are severl twin turbo Caddy trucks.

I have a customer with a 2008 regular Escalade that took off his twin turbo setup off my Z06 and had it fitted on the Escalade. 725 wheel hp, he has been thru several diffs, a few transfer cases and several transmissions. I passed him on the street on Monday so I know it's running again after replacing the drive train with super heavy duty parts, I will post who he used for these things when I talk to him. You will need really big brakes to stop :)

I'd definitely love to hear what parts he used for the trans. I am planning to build the trans, but don't know the weak points yet. I have a 2wd specifically because my intent was to add power and didn't want to deal with half shafts and diffs on top of everything else.

Interesting on the Z06 point, I was considering using a 2010 Camaro SS kit to start and modify that.

I have seen a few pre 2007 twin setups, but not a 2007+ one yet. I'd love to see the 2008 one just mentioned.

Just a question being that you have the 2WD version is it a 6.2L or 5.3L? I am remembering hearing somewhere that the motors in the 2WD versions were smaller..

SpeedKills

It is a 6.2.

What Brand of a Twin Turbo system are you going to start with? I'm a big fan of forced induction my self and have a TT viper and a supercharged Vett. Been wanting to do this for some time now on my 07slade.

Most likely I will not be modifying a kit. It will just be a custom fabbed setup.

Interesting. I didn't know STS released a kit for the 6.2litter 07+. I will call them Monday to confirm.

If you Google STS turbo+2007 Escalade nothing comes up. Only their kits for 06 and older.

Different sources show different year ranges for the STS kits, but I do not think they have a 6.2 kit yet. Regardless, I personally do not like the whistle sond of the STS kits so I would not go with one.

I'm not impressed with their quality of parts either, using hose claps and stuff like that but for the price I think its a great entry lever kit.

I have a built motor, trannsmission and a front mount single 76mm turbo @ 12#s and it makes just over 600 AWHP. I am building a 04 twin turbo silverado and I am pretty sure the manifolds would bolt in on an 07+ but you would have to fab up your own cold side. Thats what I did, buy the manifolds for the 99-07 body style trucks and had fab up the cold side. BTW it probably wont be "just thow on some turbos". Its not that simple. You still have the motor, transmission, fuel system, tuning and much more. But good luck and please keep us updated

Stop beating on it. Mine is an 07 with 40k miles and I am on my 5th transmission. The stock one lasted the longest at 20k and then I have had rebuilt ones and I had RPM Transmissions build it for $2700. Nobody makes hard parts for the 6L80E yet. So I just buy cheap used ones out of totaled escalades cause no matter how much I spend on a transmission or converter they all seem to last right around 5K miles. I think Circle D is begining to make hard parts but they are still in test. We will see. My next option is a 4L80E swap but then I have to buy a stand alone for the tranny and I dont want all that problems and garbage that comes along with all that and not to mention it would end up costing about $6-7k. If I could get a tranny, transfer case and half shafts to hold power I could make around 850 AWHP. I have also blown a transfer case into pieces rolling into from 5 MPH. Gears and shafts and all kinds of bearings and good stuff all over the intersection. A car that was 2 cars behind me ran over peices and had a flat tire. Luckily it was right in front of my shop and could coast to the front. They needed a tow truck.

The trans issue is the only part that I really need to figure out. I have a good guy to build it, but that won't help much without the parts.

2Tone, have you tried contacting Circle D Transmissions in Houston? They are starting to build these transmissions. We have the same trans as the new Camaro SS so parts will definitely start coming out for us soon.

I would have to add up everything, but it was in the $15-20k range and that does not include the labor. Tuning was around $400, but I ended up having to tweak a lot of the tune myself.
