ok, just got my first caddy; 1979 coupe. its in prestine condition all around!! (the engine-purr!! orgasmic!) grandpa driven on highways only with 52k miles. son didnt want to keep it after he kicked, so i hopped up on it quickly. it has EVERY option listed...i looked into it (besides the wire wheels..damnit). ok enough bragging. in the rear inside on the roof (above back seat), theres a placement where lights should be. did 79 coupes have lights in the back? the roof was redone in such a horrible manner (sags a lil in some parts, inch gap where i can see sheetmetal) that i think they ripped off the back...things...and forgot to put in lights or the they were just a hassel for the old man for some reason. so were there rear lights? and if so, know any place i could get them in good conidtion? dont want the hassel of ripping out all the wires and whatnot from a junkyard.

That sounds like the monitors to tell you if your rear lights are working. There are fiberoptic cables going from it to each of the tail lights. You should see them work with your brake and signals also. Take the screw out and see for yourself.
